  40. Hear your program applications talk to you!  The Screen Reader(TM)/2
  41. is a screen-access system that enables visually-impaired people to
  42. run OS/2(R), Windows+, and DOS applications under OS/2.

  44. Screen Reader/2 recognizes and verbalizes text, objects, and icons
  45. through a user-supplied, text-to-speech synthesizer.  It also keeps
  46. the user informed of screen activity and cursor movement.  Screen
  47. Reader/2  emulates most mouse functions, such as "point and click"
  48. and "drag and drop."  Output can be directed to a Braille display.

  50. The new Screen Reader/2 Version 2.0 now offers ease-of-use features,
  51. enhanced application access, additional synthesizer support, and
  52. support for the popular Bonus Pak applications with OS/2 Warp.
  53. Screen Reader/2 Version 2.0 is easier to use with pop-up menus,
  54. application tips, object type scan, text echo, and installation
  55. improvements. Application access includes support for many of the
  56. popular suite applications.

  80. Screen Reader/2 Version 2.0 enables you to navigate through an
  81. application much easier than with previous versions of Screen Reader.
  82. The pop-up menus make it easier for you to work with some of the
  83. basic Screen Reader settings using the standard keys on your computer
  84. keyboard.  These settings determine how Screen Reader works.  The
  85. pop-up menus allow you to determine the status of various settings
  86. and to re-set those settings.  Online contextual help is provided for
  87. each menu item.

  99. Object Type Scan provides you with information presented visually to
  100. the sighted user.  For example, when reading a pushbutton, listbox,
  101. or entry field, the information is provided just before the text is
  102. read.

  104. Text echo enables you to hear all the information on a scrolled text
  105. screen such as when a Directory Command (DIR) is invoked.  Without
  106. text echo, only the number of files would be spoken when a Directory
  107. Command is invoked.  Text echo is also useful when using ASCII
  108. terminal emulation programs for logging onto bulletin boards.

  110. With Screen Reader/2 Version 2.0, you can load the new version of
  111. Screen Reader/2 into a default directory, enabling two versions of
  112. Screen Reader/2 on the same system.

  116. Reduced Profile Dependency:  Base accessibility now allows many more
  117. applications to be used on Screen Reader/2 Version 2.0 without a
  118. customer-written profile.  An example is IBM OS/2 CIM.

  188. Personal Computers or non-IBM personal computers capable of running
  189. OS/2 2.1 or OS/2 Warp Version 3.0.

  192. or OS/2 Warp Version 3.0.  To run Windows applications under OS/2,
  193. your system must have one of the following installed: the version of

  195. Windows application support and your existing Windows.

  266. Screen Reader/2 Version 1.2.1, and lower levels, and currently
  267. licensed users of Screen Reader/DOS, to obtain this new version for a
  268. program upgrade charge.  The program upgrade to Screen Reader/2
  269. Version 2.0 will be available on November 17, 1995.  Orders will be
  270. accepted after November 17, 1995.  These upgrades will be available
  271. only through IBM PC Direct at 800-426-7630.  Proof of license for
  272. each upgrade ordered is required.  The end user must present the
  273. original proof of license (original page of the User's Guide) along
  274. with a completed and signed IBM Personal Computer/System Program
  275. Upgrade and Certification form.
