and your existing Windows
----------------------------------------
Hear your program applications talk to you! The Screen Reader(TM)/2
is a screen-access system that enables visually-impaired people to
run OS/2(R), Windows+, and DOS applications under OS/2.
Screen Reader/2 recognizes and verbalizes text, objects, and icons
through a user-supplied, text-to-speech synthesizer. It also keeps
the user informed of screen activity and cursor movement. Screen
Reader/2 emulates most mouse functions, such as "point and click"
and "drag and drop." Output can be directed to a Braille display.
The new Screen Reader/2 Version 2.0 now offers ease-of-use features,
enhanced application access, additional synthesizer support, and
support for the popular Bonus Pak applications with OS/2 Warp.
Screen Reader/2 Version 2.0 is easier to use with pop-up menus,
application tips, object type scan, text echo, and installation
improvements. Application access includes support for many of the
popular suite applications.

DESCRIPTION
Ease-of-Use
Screen Reader/2 Version 2.0 enables you to navigate through an
application much easier than with previous versions of Screen Reader.
The pop-up menus make it easier for you to work with some of the
basic Screen Reader settings using the standard keys on your computer
keyboard. These settings determine how Screen Reader works. The
pop-up menus allow you to determine the status of various settings
and to re-set those settings. Online contextual help is provided for
each menu item.
Application Tips and Keys files, available for each application
profile included with Screen Reader/2, include:
o General application description
o Profile name
o Key sequences
o What you hear
o Hints for using the application
o Keys list
Object Type Scan provides you with information presented visually to
the sighted user. For example, when reading a pushbutton, listbox,
or entry field, the information is provided just before the text is
read.
Text echo enables you to hear all the information on a scrolled text
screen such as when a Directory Command (DIR) is invoked. Without
text echo, only the number of files would be spoken when a Directory
Command is invoked. Text echo is also useful when using ASCII
terminal emulation programs for logging onto bulletin boards.
With Screen Reader/2 Version 2.0, you can load the new version of
Screen Reader/2 into a default directory, enabling two versions of
Screen Reader/2 on the same system.
Enhanced Application Access
Reduced Profile Dependency: Base accessibility now allows many more
applications to be used on Screen Reader/2 Version 2.0 without a
customer-written profile. An example is IBM OS/2 CIM.
Screen Reader/2 is customized for a larger library of popular
applications. Check the following list for your favorite OS/2 Warp
or Windows application.
