  15.                     IBM Internet Connection Family of Products continues to
  16.              be expanded with new functions across multiple platforms.  The
  17.              new functions will allow you to:
  18.              o   Do business transactions on the Internet using the
  19.                  encryption and authentication security features to be
  20.                  available with AIX and OS/2 Warp servers and clients.
  21.              o   Explore the Internet from AIX with the WebExplorer.
  22.              o   Host your own Web home pages on MVS/ESA.
  23.              o   Access DB2 data and CICS transaction systems from a Web
  24.                  client.
  25.              o   Use the Internet functions on new hardware technologies.

  28.                  IBM continues to expand its family of Internet Connection
  29.           products.  These new products and functions will allow businesses
  30.           (and individuals) to take advantage of the vast information and
  31.           services available on the Internet.  IBM plans to provide the
  32.           following new Internet Connection functions:
  33.           o   The emerging security standards, Secure HyperText Transport
  34.               Protocol (S-HTTP) and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), for the
  35.               Internet Connection Servers for AIX (R) and OS/2 (R) Warp.
  36.           o   An Internet Connection Server for MVS/ESA (TM).
  37.           o   A Web browser for AIX that will provide similar capabilities
  38.               available today in IBM's powerful WebExplorer for OS/2 Warp.  A
  39.               secure WebExplorer for AIX and OS/2 Warp will also be provided.
  40.               HyperText Markup Language (HTML) 3.0 table support will be
  41.               available for both AIX and OS/2 Warp.
  42.           o   An integrated DB2 (R) World Wide Web gateway for AIX, OS/2 Warp,
  43.               and MVS/ESA which will provide access to DB2 data.
  44.           o   An integrated CICS (TM) gateway for AIX and OS/2 Warp to access
  45.               and run existing and new CICS transaction processing applications
  46.               and to enable CICS applications to the World Wide Web.
  47.           o   The IBM WebExplorer for OS/2 Warp Connect (PowerPC (TM) Edition).
  48.           o   The IBM Internet Connection Server for AIX will be supported on a
  49.               range of systems supported by AIX which includes the low-end,
  50.               RS/6000 (TM), up through the scalable parallel server, SP2 (TM).
  51.               Additionally, the Internet Connection Server for AIX will be
  52.               supported on the Power Series (TM) Family.

  65. OVERVIEW  DESCRIPTION
  66.                  Today, IBM provides a comprehensive set of Internet products
  67.           that gives you quick and easy access to the Information Highway.  IBM
  68.           will continue to expand it's family of Internet products to make it
  69.           even easier to access and do business on the Internet.
  70.                  INTERNET CONNECTION SECURE SERVER FOR AIX AND OS/2 WARP
  71.                  In order to conduct commerce over the Internet, it is
  72.           important to ensure that the transactions are secure.  To provide
  73.           maximum flexibility in secure environments, IBM's Internet Connection
  74.           Secure Servers for AIX and OS/2 Warp will support the emerging
  75.           standards, Secure HyperText Transfer Protocol (S-HTTP) and Secure
  76.           Sockets Layer (SSL).  These security technologies ensure that
  77.           information is encrypted for privacy and arrives at its intended
  78.           destinations.
  79.                  An upgrade package will be available for these secure servers
  80.           to users who purchased the IBM Internet Connection Server for AIX or
  81.           OS/2 Warp.
  82.                  IBM SECURE WEBEXPLORER FOR AIX AND OS/2 WARP
  83.                  To provide secure commerce on the Internet, both the clients
  84.           and servers need to support the security protocols.  The IBM Secure
  85.           WebExplorer for AIX and the IBM Secure WebExplorer for OS/2 Warp will
  86.           support S-HTTP and SLL.  These technologies ensure that information
  87.           is encrypted and arrives safely at its intended destination.
  88.                  IBM WEBEXPLORER FOR AIX
  89.                  For users of AIX who want to explore the Internet, IBM will
  90.           provide WebExplorer.  The WebExplorer for AIX will have similar
  91.           capabilities as the powerful IBM WebExplorer that is available today
  92.           for OS/2 Warp.
  93.                  IBM INTERNET CONNECTION SERVER FOR MVS/ESA
  94.                  IBM plans to offer a Web Server for MVS/ESA.  The MVS Web
  95.           Server will include an application interface using the Common Gateway
  96.           Interface (CGI).  The CGI enables access to other MVS application
  97.           programs, databases, and transaction management systems.
  98.                  The MVS/ESA Web Server will exploit and depend on OpenEdition
  99.           (TM) services in MVS/ESA SP Version 5 Release 2.2.  An OpenEdition
  100.           transport provider such as IBM TCP/IP Version 3 Release 1 for MVS or
  101.           ACF/VTAM (R) Version 4 Release 3 AnyNet (TM)/MVS feature is also
  102.           required.  The repository for resources (HTML pages) is the
  103.           Hierarchical File System.
  104.                  AN INTEGRATED CICS GATEWAY FOR IBM INTERNET CONNECTION SERVER
  105.           FOR OS/2 WARP
  106.                  The goal of the integrated CICS gateway is to make it easier
  107.           to develop and run transaction processing applications on the
  108.           Internet and to enable CICS applications to the World Wide Web.  The
  109.           CICS gateway will make it possible to access and run many existing
  110.           and new CICS applications using standard World Wide Web browsers, for
  111.           example, IBM's WebExplorer for OS/2 Warp or AIX.  Typically, no
  112.           changes are needed in the CICS applications, nor is any application
  113.           code required for the CICS gateway itself. It is not usually
  114.           necessary to recompile the CICS application nor to recompile the CICS
  115.           Basic Mapping Support (BMS) maps.
  116.                  The CICS gateway makes CICS applications available on the

  123.           World Wide Web by generating standard HTML for the application.  The
  124.           CICS gateway can also be used to provide an alternative user
  125.           interface for CICS applications within a corporation as well as
  126.           across the Internet.  Initially, the CICS gateway will be available
  127.           on OS/2 and AIX.  For more information about the CICS Gateway, see
  128.           Software Announcement 295-280, dated June 19, 1995.
  129.                  AN INTEGRATED DB2 WORLD WIDE WEB GATEWAY FOR IBM INTERNET
  130.           CONNECTION SERVER FOR AIX, OS/2 WARP, AND MVS/ESA
  131.                  From a Web browser a user will be able to get access to DB2
  132.           data.  IBM will provide an integrated DB2 World Wide Web gateway for
  133.           AIX, OS/2 Warp, and MVS/ESA.  This DB2 Web gateway will enable the
  134.           development of Web applications without requiring a proprietary
  135.           language, data encapsulation or data base reformatting.  The
  136.           application developer will be able to combine dynamic SQL and forms
  137.           built with HTML to access a DB2 database.
  138.                  When you are ready to conduct business on the Internet, you
  139.           will want the flexibility of applications built with the DB2 Web
  140.           gateway combined with the secure environment offered by IBM Internet
  141.           Connection Secure Server for AIX and OS/2 Warp.  For more information

  143.           dated June 19, 1995.
  144.                  IBM will continue to extend its Internet Connection products
  145.           across even more platforms by providing:
  146.           o   IBM will support the IBM WebExplorer for OS/2 Warp Connect
  147.               (PowerPC Edition).
  148.           o   The IBM Internet Connection Server for AIX will be supported on a
  149.               range of systems supported by AIX which includes the low-end,
  150.               RS/6000, up through the scalable parallel server, SP2.
  151.               Additionally, the Internet Connection Server for AIX will be
  152.               supported on the IBM Power Series Family.
  153.                  The announcement and availability of the referenced functions
  154.           will be based on IBM's business and technical judgement.
