PERFORMANCE CONSIDERATIONS: Response time in a terminal environment
depends upon a variety of system unit and data-communication load
factors. These include the types and speeds of system units
processor, number of types of communication adapters installed, the
line speed of the communication service, and the amount of processing
done by the applications utilizing Personal Communications/3270
Version 4.0 for OS/2
PLANNING INFORMATION
The Personal Communications/3270 Version 4.0 for OS/2 can be
set up to work in a server/client relationship. This approach for
Personal Communications/3270 Version 4.0 for OS/2 is to store the
least amount of code necessary on the client workstation and to store
the major portion of the run time code and configuration information
on an LAN file server. This allows the customers to utilize their
workstations for more applications.
MEMORY AND FIXED ESTIMATING WORKSHEET
The following worksheets may be used to determine hardware capacity
requirements for Personal Communications/3270 Version 4.0 for OS/2.
To estimate requirements, add the recommended memory or hard-file
size for the functions desired. These totals plus sufficient buffer
must be added to the capacity required for the base OS/2 operating
system, other user applications, and the requirements for user data.
Communication Manager/2 Version 1.11 numbers are also shown to help
with your planning requirements.
The numbers shown in the worksheets are for planning purposes.
They represent the probable memory size in megabytes for concurrent
operation of the functions. The numbers assume an acceptable degree
of swapping.
