  30. The packet contains a simple updater that runs nicely on even a
  31. Geocities account. It has been 100% written according to Warp 4's
  32. REXX TCP/IP instructions that ship with Warp 4. The packet also
  33. contains a really nice Java updater which is courtesy of

  36. The WarpSeeMe/2 page has been updated some time ago. Due to a lack of
  37. time of the whole staff, I only now managed to sit down and post this
  38. news at WarpCast.

  40. For those that don't know yet, WarpSeeMe/2 is a project that stands
  41. for developing a new videoconferencing program for OS/2 in order to 
  42. replace the good but discontinued ones we had such as InterCom/2 and
  43. CUSeeMe/2.

  535. you've seen something interesting on c.o.o.marketplace and want more

  537. newsgroup. There's a lot of noise on this newsgroup, so please don't
  538. add to it.

  541. recommend you put it on eBay and post an announcement on
  542. comp.os.os2.marketplace. If you include the word "OS/2" in the title

  1073. The SFX Installer offers the first one file archive/installation tool
  1074. widely available on the OS/2 platform. It marries the installation
  1075. tool for your software and it's own setup tools into one friendly
  1076. package for point and click installation setups that are personalized
  1077. for your software. SFX allows you to build an  archive in standard or
  1078. self-extracting format, with or without the installer.
  1079.  
  1080. There are no cryptic scripts to learn to write other than any
  1081. setupstrings (samples provided) you need to place folders and icons
  1082. on the desktop. The installation setup tool allows you to point and
  1083. click a complete setup. When you are satisfied with how the archive
  1084. should be setup you can save all the information and recall it when
  1085. needed. SFX will save and retrieve as many setups as you have disk 
  1086. space for and will help the author of multiple programs to keep them
  1087. organized. It can also be used as a general zip file distribution
  1088. builder as well.

  1090. The SFX Installer includes several novel details for the software
  1091. distributer including:
  1092.  
  1093. 1) Dll and help file placement (and tracking) into existing LIBPATH
  1094. and SET HELP directories so your user may avoid adding to these paths
  1095. and also avoid rebooting before usage.

  1097. 2) An uninstallation script is written at install time specific to
  1098. the users installation that will, track all files your program has
  1099. installed and remove any WPS objects created at installation time.
  1100. This uninstall script can be modified if needed via a plugin.

  1194. OS/2 Packed file extensions can have "_" or "@" or no extension at
  1195. all. So how do you locate them? Better yet, how do you locate and see
  1196. what files are archived inside of them? We are unaware of any
  1197. software that will help you find those almost unrecognizable OS/2
  1198. packed files except WarpZip. Of course, dragging a file out of them
  1199. or viewing them is as easy as working with a zip archive.

  1204. WarpZip will search a directory, directory tree, hard disk or CD for
  1205. zip files as well as OS/2 packed files. It will add or delete files
  1206. from archives, view files in archives or you can test run them (to do

  1208. can test zip files or run virus scans, view bitmaps, grep, build self
  1209. extractors, copy, move, rename, delete... well... you get the

  1261.  
  1262. ConfigEdit/2 is a config.sys database manager which can 
  1263. auto-generate config.sys files from a database which can be either
  1264. imported or created by hand. It can be used to hold multiple
  1265. config.sys files and generate new ones. Also manages OS/2's recovery
  1266. choices!

  1366. After some conflicting information from NovaStor about potential OS/2
  1367. CD-R/W support, I inquired further and received the following letter
  1368. from NovaStor Technical Support:

  1372.   We have thoroughly researched the possibility of adding support for
  1373.   CD-R/W drives under the OS/2 Warp operating system. Attempting to
  1374.   use these drives with the current version of the NovaDisk
  1375.   application provided unstable and faulty results, being unable to
  1376.   provide a reliable backup or restore procedure. Consequently, we
  1377.   have decided to discontinue any further development of a backup
  1378.   program for the OS/2 platform.
  1379.  
  1380.   We apologize for any inconvenience that this might cause.
  1381.  
  1382.   Please note that we are still fully expecting to support the OS/2
  1383.   Warp operating system with our future release of InstantRecovery.
  1384.   This software will allow you to perform a disaster recovery backup
  1385.   to CD-R/W media and allow the system to be recovered in case of a
  1386.   critical failure from a floppy diskette or bootable CD-R/W.
  1387.  
  1388.   We invite you to visit our beta forum to download and test this new
  1389.   software. The beta forum can be reached on our Internet site on the
  1390.   Technical Support pages. Provide the required information  and be
