  112. My Gravis gamepad pro works great.  I just wish someone could modify
  113. they joystick device driver to support more than 4 buttons.

  155. What is it:
  156. MAMERun is a FREEWARE PM frontend for the DOS version of MAME
  157. (Multi. Arcade Machine Emulator).  A Frontend is a program that
  158. makes it easier for the user to interface with their application,
  159. which usually has a command line interface.  MAME is a very popular
  160. emulator that allows you to run thousands of classic arcade
  161. games on your PC (if you own the ROMs).  You can find the MAME
  162. homepage at http://mame.retrogames.com/.  The Official 
  163. (and very good) OS/2 PM port of MAME was done by
  164. Marty Amodeo and is at http://emuos2.vintagegaming.com/.

  166. Why:
  167. I wrote MAMERun because I wanted an alternative to running the
  168. PM version without having to reboot back to Windows or type
  169. in really long command strings.  Some people have problems
  170. with their video and sound in PM.  For me it was the fact that
  171. my poor system just couldn't chug along fast enough too keep
  172. up.  I also like to tweak stuff.  I've included most of the options
  173. that MAME has (some 30 of them) so you can fiddle all you like.
  174. You may find that using the DOS version of MAME under OS/2
  175. works better for you, or maybe not.  Just keep having fun!!

  179. MAME for DOS (I used version .36 beta 7)
  180. DOS Support installed
  181. REXX
  182. joystick device driver (download from hobbes or DDPAK)
  183. ROMs (DO NOT ASK ME FOR, OR WHERE TO GET ROMS!!)

  198. The Pentium optimized version of the recently released MAME for OS/2 .36
  199. beta 7 has been updated.  It was originally built using a buggy GCC
  200. optimization which caused instability.  The 486 version did not suffer
  201. from this instability and did not need to be updated.  I have rebuilt
  202. the Pentium optimized version without the offending optimization and it
  203. has cured many problems.

  205. If you currently have the Pentium optimized version, I strongly
  206. recommend that you download this update.  It is available at
  207. http://emuos2.vintagegaming.com as usual.
