Subject: "GPF in WFXVIEW.DLL" with CAS Fax/Modem
Situation:
==========
When using WinFax with an Intel CAS fax/modem, the message "GPF in
WFXVIEW.DLL" appears. This general protection fault hangs the system
and you cannot run WinFax.
Solution:
=========
The Intel SatisFAXtion software for your CAS fax/modem maintains a log of
all received events. When you start WinFax, it checks the Intel log and
converts any newly received faxes to WinFax format. If a received event
in the Intel log contains a corrupted image file, the GPF error occurs.
Perform the following procedure to correct the problem:
1. Exit Windows and go to DOS.
2. Change to the QUEUE subdirectory for your Intel SatisFAXtion software
(for example C:\FAX\QUEUE).
3. Create a temporary directory, into which you will move the contents of
the QUEUE directory.
4. Copy all files from the QUEUE directory to the temporary directory.
5. Delete the contents of the QUEUE directory.
6. You can view the received fax events that you copied to the temporary
directory using the Intel SatisFAXtion program.
7. To run the Intel SatisFAXtion program, type ...
FAX
... and press ENTER.
8. For details on viewing received event files (*.REC) in the Intel viewer,
see the Intel SatisFAXtion user manual.
After performing this procedure, you can run WinFax without generating the
GPF error.
