  19. Subject: "Event Errors" When Sending with Class 2 Exar Fax/Modems
  20.  
  21. Situation:
  22. ==========
  23. Periodically, when sending while using a fax/modem with a Class 2 Exar
  24. chipset, faxes that appear to transmit fully are logged in WinFax with 
  25. an "Event Error" status. This problem occurs most often when faxing from 
  26. Windows applications that consume a larger portion of system resources.
  27.  
  28. Solution:
  29. =========
  30. You must use a release of WinFax PRO 3.0 dated April 21, 1993 or later, 
  31. and edit your WINFAX.INI file to specify a higher system priority for 
  32. WinFax.
  33.  
  34. To verify the release date of your software, pull down the Help menu in 
  35. WinFax, and select About. Update to the April 21, 1993 release of WinFax 
  36. PRO 3.0 if you have an earlier version of the software. For details on 
  37. updating, see the following technical notes:

  42. To specify a higher system priority for WinFax:
  43.  
  44. 1.  Open the WINFAX.INI file in Windows Notepad, or any other basic text 
  45.     editor.
  46.  
  47.     The WINFAX.INI file is located in your WinFax directory (for example, 
  48.     C:\WINFAX).
  49.  
  50. 2.  Add the following entry to the [General] section of the WINFAX.INI file:
  51.  
  52.         Priority=High
  53.  
  54. 3.  Save the changes to the WINFAX.INI file and exit the text editor.
  55.  
  56.     The change takes effect when you next start WinFax.
  57.  
  58. Note:  This high priority setting allows WinFax to take complete control of 
  59.        Windows system resources during transmission, which results in more 
  60.        successfully sent faxes. However, while sending or receiving a fax, 
  61.        the Cancel button in WinFax is disabled and you cannot access other 
  62.        Windows applications.

  64.        To disable the high priority setting in the WINFAX.INI file, place a 
  65.        semicolon at the start of the line, as follows:
