  1. Using HP ScanJet IIp under under IBM OS/2 Warp
  2.  
  3. I have succsfully installed the HP ScanJet IIp under Warp 
  4. My system is setup with;
  5.  
  6. HP ScanJet IIp
  7. OS/2 Warp
  8. IBM DOS 5.02
  9. Windows for Workgroups 3.11
  10. DeskScan V2.1a
  11. ASPIDR.ZIP Contains ASPI Driver for HP C2502/3A Host Adapter
  12. HP C2502/3A interface card.
  13. 20 Megs RAM
  14.  
  15. New Installations ( Never attempted DeskScan install before )
  16.  
  17. 1.  First you need to make sure that Warp and Windows are installed correctly.  Make sure that
  18. you are able to print under DOS/Windows as well as Warp/Windows.
  19. 2.  Boot Warp, start Windows and install DeskScan V2.1a, during the install you will be prompted 
  20. to updateCONFIG.SYS, SYSTEM.INI and AUTOEXEC.BAT.  DO NOT allow the install to update
  21. CONFIG.SYS or SYSTEM.INI.
  22. 3.  Unzip ASPIDR.ZIP in the directory you installed DeskScan in.
  23. 4.  Go to Windows setting and under DOS_DEVICE add C2502-3A.SYS and SJIIX.SYS.  Refer to the 
  24. OS/2 documentation if you are unfamiliar with this operation.
  25. 5.  If you boot DOS/Windows and want to run DeskScan, the MINI400 driver work just fine under 
  26. DOS/Windows.  Boot DOS and install as usual.  DO NOT allow setup to update SYSTEM.INI.

  28. Fixing Installation ( Tried to get MINI400 to work )
  29.  
  30. 1.  Again, make sure you system works without any problems.  Test  printing under DOS/Windows and
  31. Warp/Windows.
  32. 2.  Boot Warp, start Windows and install DeskScan V2.1a, during the install you will be prompted 
  33. to updateCONFIG.SYS, SYSTEM.INI and AUTOEXEC.BAT.  DO NOT allow the install to update
  34. CONFIG.SYS or SYSTEM.INI.
  35. 3.  Unzip ASPIDR.ZIP in the directory you installed DeskScan in.
  36. 4.  Go to Windows setting and under DOS_DEVICE add C2502-3A.SYS and SJIIX.SYS.  Refer to the 
  37. OS/2 documentation if you are unfamiliar with this operation.
  38. 5.  Go to WINDOWS directory and coment out MINI400I.386 and HPSCANR.386 line in [386Enh] 
  39. section.
  40. 6.  This should work fine.

  45. Just for the record I have windows running full screen, enhanced mode, DOS HIGH w/UMB, DPMI AUTO,
  46. 16 Megs of EMS and 16 Megs of XMS, 4 Megs DPMI and a 16Meg swap file on a 2 Gig drive( D:).  Drive 
  47. C: and E: share a 1 Gig drive split 250/750.  The PC is a Happy motherboard 486/66 with DTC SCSI 
  48. controller, Tseng Chip set VLB 1 Meg video card and Sound Blaster CD16.
