  7. INSTALLATION NOTES:
  8. -------------------
  9.  
  10.  1.  You must have OS/2 DOS Support installed in order to install this driver.
  11.  
  12.  2.  The OS/2 ATTRIB command is used during installation.  If you elected not
  13.      to install the OS/2 System Utility Programs or you have deleted the
  14.      ATTRIB, command you must use Selective Install to restore the ATTRIB
  15.      command before continuing.
  16.  
  17.  3.  If you previously installed SVGA support, return to VGA resolution using
  18.      the new SETVGA procedure found at the end of this README before you
  19.      install this driver.
  20.  
  21.  4.  You must have run the S64MODE.EXE utility and selected a monitor
  22.      from the Stealth 64 Installation disk prior to installing these
  23.      drivers.  If you have not done this, do so now.  Refer to
  24.      instructions in the Stealth 64 User's Manual for running
  25.      S64MODE.EXE and selecting a monitor.
  26.  
  27. INSTALLATION:
  28. -------------
  29.  
  30. This video accelerator driver is compatible with OS/2 2.1.  Do not install it
  31. over any display driver other than VGA.
  32.  
  33.  1.  Place the Stealth 64 VRAM OS/2 driver diskette into drive A (or any other diskette drive).
  34.  
  35.  2.  Open an OS/2 full-screen or OS/2 window session.
  36.  
  37.  3.  Change to the OS/2 directory.  Then type 'attrib -r -s -h screen0*.sys'.
  38.  
  39.  4.  Then switch to the floppy drive where you inserted the Stealth 64 OS/2 driver disk.  Then, at
  40.      the prompt, type the following command:
  41.  
  42.      S3INST A: C:
  43.  
  44.      *** It is important that you do this from the floppy drive.
  45.  
  46.           where:  A: is the diskette drive
  47.                   C: is the drive where OS/2 2.1 is installed
  48.  
  49.      This command will copy all necessary files to the OS/2 drive.  You will be requested to put disk #2
  50.      into the drive.
  51.  
  52.  5.  When S3INST has completed executing, remove the diskette from the diskette drive, perform a shutdown, 
  53.      and then restart the system.
  54.  
  55.  6.  Open the "OS/2 System" folder.
  56.  
  57.  7.  Open the "System Setup" folder.
  58.  
  59.  8.  Open the "Display Driver Install" (DSPINSTL) object.
  60.  
  61.      When the Display Driver Install window appears, "S3" should be the
  62.      default choice.  Select "OK".
  63.  
  64.      When the Monitor Configuration/Selection Utility window appears,
  65.      the "Install Using Defaults for Monitor Type" option is preselected.
  66.      Select the "Install Using Display Adapter Utility Program" option, then
  67.      select "OK".
  68.  
  69.   9. The Monitor Configuration/Selection Utility Location windows should
  70.      appear.  For the Utility Location, type:
  71.  
  72.              C:\S64\UTIL\S64MODE.EXE MONITOR
  73.  
  74.      If you installed S64MODE into a different directory, modify the above
  75.      path accordingly.  Select "OK".
  76.  
  77.   10. When the source directory pop-up window appears, insert the S3
  78.      Video Accelerator Driver diskette and select Install.
  79.  
  80.      DSPINSTL determines the hardware configuration by creating the
  81.      SVGADATA.PMI file on the drive where the OS2 directory is located.
  82.      If the SVGADATA.PMI file has not been created, the adapter will not be
  83.      supported.
  84.  
  85.  11.  When the installation is complete, do the following:
  86.        a.  Open "OS/2 System".
  87.        b.  Open "System Setup".
  88.        c.  Open the "System" object.  The Screen page of the Settings
  89.            notebook lists all the supported resolutions for your
  90.            configuration.
  91.        d.  Select a resolution; then, close the notebook.
  92.  
  93.  12.  Perform a shutdown; then, restart the system.
  94.  
  95. Note that during the installation of this driver a DISPLAY.LOG file is
  96. created in the OS2\INSTALL directory.  This file identifies the OS/2 2.1
  97. system files that were updated and indicates whether the installation was
  98. successful.  The contents of this file might be useful if you need to report
  99. an installation problem to Diamond Computer Systems.

  106.   With the program VPIC6 under FS DOS, GIFs cannot be viewed in the 1280x1024
  107.   resolution.

  109.   OS/2 Full Screen Sessions and Applications
  110.   ------------------------------------------
  111.   Context switching from Win-OS/2 full screen to OS/2 full screen may
  112.   produce a distorted text in OS/2 full screen.
