  20.       CONTINUOUS SYSTEM AVAILABILITY

  22.       This  publication  is  an  introduction   to   Continuous   System
  23.       Availability (CSA). It can be used to prepare a presentation or to
  24.       learn  the  basic concepts of CSA and get an understanding of what
  25.       must  be  done  to  implement  a  Continuous  Availability   (C/A)
  26.       solution.  This publication covers the various aspects of CSA. It:
  27.       defines the terms used in this domain and puts them into
  28.  
  29.       -   perspective
  30.       -   reviews the availability marketplace
  31.       -   proposes a framework for CAS design
  32.       -   identifies  the  C/A  attributes  of  the  IBM*  leading  edge
  33.           hardware and software products and indicates  how  to  exploit
  34.           them
  35.       -   shows   that   system-wide   automation  is  a  must  for  the
  36.           achievement of C/A
  37.       -   describes the IBM tools available for measuring availability
  38.       -   emphasizes the need to design and develop applications for C/A
  39.       -   concludes  that  C/A  can  be  achieved  with  proper  product
  40.           selection, design, implementation, measurement and management

  42.       This publication can also be used as a C/A attribute checklist for
  43.       IBM products.  GG66-3149 is a companion publication to the present
  44.       one.    It  is  the  set  of foils corresponding to the mini-foils
  45.       appearing in GG66-3147.

  52.       CICS OS/2 ISC: AN IMPLEMENTATION
  53.  
  54.       This brief consists of a series of figures to help once the  SMP/E
  55.       installation  and downloading of CICS OS/2 is complete. The reason
  56.       for this is because so many products come into play is  confusing.
  57.       Most  can be found elsewhere; i.e., the best source being the CICS
  58.       OS/2 System and Application Guide, SC33-0616. This is  an  attempt
  59.       to  get  up  and running as quickly as possible by giving only the
  60.       information needed.
