  58.  The most current LMU documentation is available on the distribution
  59.  diskettes.  See the READ.ME for instructions on how to install and
  60.  view it.

  78.  I receive the following message when trying to start the LMU/2 Managing
  79.  System code (LMUSRV) with LAN Server 3.0:
  80.  LMU0030E DosMakeMailslot failed for mailslot /MAILSLOT/LMU.SRV; rc = 87
  81.  What's wrong?
  82. :ANSWER.
  83.  LS 3.0 made an incompatible change to the mailslot APIs. They have
  84.  fixed this problem via APAR IC04600.  You can get this APAR by calling
  85.  1-800-IBM-SERV (1-800-426-7378) and requesting it from LAN Server
  86.  (not LMU/2!!).  Those outside the US should contact their corresponding
  87.  support centers to request the fix from LAN Server Support in the US.

  89.  Meanwhile, if you are not supporting any LMU/2 Version 1 nodes, you
  90.  can bypass this problem by simply starting LMUSRV before you start LAN
  91.  Server (note that LAN Requester must be started before LMUSRV).  You
  92.  will still see an informational message from LMUSRV indicating that
  93.  LMU/2 Version 1 nodes are not supported -- just ignore this message.

  100.  I am trying to set up LMU/2 on my Novell Netware 3.11 Server.
  101.  Installation goes fine using an OS/2 Netware Requester, but
  102.  when I go to the server to execute the customization program
  103.  I get messages as follows:

  107.  Loader cannot find public symbol: __CHK
  108.    Load file referenced undefined public variable.

  111.  The cause of the problem is a glitch in the CLIB.NLM that is shipped
  112.  with the base NetWare 3.11 package.

  115.  updates you need to install on your NetWare server prior to LMU/2
  116.  customization.  To get the package :

  127.  The latest LMU/2 CSD is available on OS2CSD (worldwide) as LMU2CSD.

  137.  Why do I get NetBIOS return code x'38' when running LMU2 V2?
  138. :ANSWER.
  139.  You are running out of NetBIOS resources (names, commands (NCBs) or
  140.  sessions.
  141.  
  142.  All NetBIOS resources are allocated one of two ways:
  143.  - with EE, they are allocated from the comm manager .CFG file
  144.  - with ES 1.0 (and all versions of LS), they are allocated from
  145.    the PROTOCOL.INI file in the \IBMCOM directory
  146.  
  147.  LAN requester is a user of these resources and he
  148.  gets his share of this pie from the netx statement
  149.  in the IBMLAN.INI file.  Whatever remains are the resources
  150.  available to all other applications that allocate and use
  151.  NetBIOS resources directly.  These are the numbers reported in
  152.  LANTRAN.LOG.
  153.  
  154.  There are several applications that allocate these resources:
  155.  e.g. LAN Network Manager, LAN Station Manager, and
  156.  Remote Data Services in DBM.  LMU/2 V1 used a few
  157.  sessions/commands/names and LMU/2 V2 uses more depending upon
  158.  what functions are in use (in the V2 guide
  159.  we recommend having 20 each of sessions/commands/names
  160.  available for LMU/2 managing stations).

  162.  If you want to see what NetBIOS resources are allocated and in
  163.  use by various applications, get LAPSDUMP from OS2TOOLS and
  164.  run it on your workstation.
  165.  
  166.  Now let me address your specific question.  I'll bet a cookie
  167.  that your managing system with database has DBM installed with
  168.  Remote Data Services.  When LMUSRV comes up it starts DBM and
  169.  RDS allocates its NetBIOS resources (whether you use RDS or not).
  170.  After DBM takes its piece of the pie, there is nothing left for
  171.  LMUSRV and thus the x38.
  172.  
  173.  One thing you can do is remove RDS.  Another is to allocate
  174.  more resources in PROTOCOL.INI.
  175.  The ES 1.0 READ.ME talks about the resources required for
  176.  various configurations.  It indicates that a database server
  177.  needs 32/45/4 sessions/commands/names (seems like I've seen it
  178.  higher).  From your description and assuming you have no other
  179.  applications that allocate resources directly,
  180.  I would say 200/200/50 is a minimum allocation for you.
