LAN DISTANCE SHUTTLE WITH PCMCIA AND SOCKET SERVICES DOESN'T
UPDATE CONFIG.SYS PROPERLY IF SS USING EXTRA PARM (/S0=2)
Symptom ...... AB ABEND Status ........... CLOSED PER
Severity ................... 2 Date Closed ......... 94/02/08
Component .......... 562207500 Duplicate of .........
Socket services for the Thinkpad 750c requires an extra
parameter for the IBM2SS01 or IBM2SS02 driver (/S0=2):
DEVICE=C:\IBMCOM\MACS\IBM2SS01.SYS /S0=2 (in config.sys)
.
For LAN Distance's shuttle function, you add the device driver
names to the IBMTOKCS.NIF & PDFH.NIF file on the Name= line:
Name = $ICPMOS2.sys IBMTOKCS.OS2 IBM2SS02.SYS ......
.
If you add the '/S0=2' to the Name= statement in the .NIF files,
and then use the shuttle function to change to a local
machine, the /s0=2 is added as a separate DEVICE= statement.
If you leave the parameter off, socket services won't load.
.
Please see the LD README and Common Problem #18 for more
information on editing the .nif file.
.
Summary: There needs to be a way to add parameters to a
.NIF file so that they can be attached to a device
statement so the LD shuttle function works completely.
LOCAL FIX:
Only current workaround is to edit the config.sys file and
add the /s0=2 parm to the socket services line when shuttling.
PROBLEM SUMMARY: See above.
PROBLEM CONCLUSION:
Fix module, WCLSHUTL.DLL, has been made available to
correct the problem. This fix is to be applied to all Remote
Workstations experiencing the problem.
.
This fix module will fix parameters lost for the IBM2SS01.SYS
and ESTDFM.OS2 device drivers as well as others.
.
If device drivers are added to the IBMTOKCS.NIF or PDFH.NIF
files then the following change must also be made to the
WCLLOCAL.INI file in the WAL directory.
Edit the WCLLOCAL.INI file in your \WAL subdirectory:
Add a SHUTTLE section like the following to specify the name
of your device driver and its parameter. For example:
SHUTTLE
D1 = IBM2SS01.SYS
P1 = /S0=1
