  2. INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS for the NetWare Client v2.1 for OS/2
  3.  
  4.  
  5. The NetWare Client v2.1 for OS/2 consists of 5 self-extracting files: 
  6. WSOS21.EXE contains the installation program
  7. WSOS22.EXE contains the requester and RIPL files
  8. WSDRV1.EXE contains the LAN drivers
  9. OS2UT1.EXE contains LOGIN, NLIST, MAP, CX, SYSCON utilities
  10. OS2DC1.EXE contains the electronic documentation in OS/2 IPF format
  11.  
  12. Once these files are downloaded, there are 3 methods that can be
  13. used to complete the installation of the NetWare Client v2.1 for OS/2:
  14.  
  15. Method 1: Extract to Network Drive/Install FromNetwork Drive
  16. Method 2: Extract to Hard Drive/Make Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  17. Method 3: Extract to Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  18.  
  19. Instructions for each method follow.

  23. Method 1: Extract to Network Drive/Install FromNetwork Drive
  24.  
  25. NOTE: You must have a version of the Netware Client already installed on
  26. your workstation and be connected to the Network in order to use this
  27. install method.  You cannot install to and from the same drive. Example:
  28. You cannot install from C: to C:
  29.  
  30. 1.  To install the NetWare Client to your hard disk, you must
  31.     have adequate disk space to allow for the client to install.
  32.     (about 4 meg)
  33.  
  34. 2.  At the Network drive, create a directory called TEMP.  This
  35.     directory can be deleted later. 
  36.           
  37.     Example:  At the J:\ prompt, type
  38.  
  39.                     MD TEMP   
  40.  
  41. 3.  Extract WSOS21.EXE, WSOS22.EXE, WSDRV1.EXE, OS2UT1.EXE, and 
  42.     OS2DC1.EXE into the TEMP directory using the -d option to create
  43.     the required subdirectories.
  44.  
  45.     Example:  At the command line, type
  46.  
  47.                     WSOS21 -d J:\TEMP
  48.  
  49. 4.  In an OS/2 Command Line Session, CD into the TEMP directory and type
  50.     INSTALL.  The NetWare Client for OS/2 Installation screen will appear.  
  51.     Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to install the
  52.     NetWare Requester on the workstation. NOTE: Make sure and place the
  53.     local disk drive letter as the target directory.

  55. 5.  Delete your TEMP directory if desired.

  59. Method 2: Extract to Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  60.  
  61. 1.  Format 5 3.5" high density double-sided diskettes.
  62.  
  63. 2.  Label each diskette with the following names: 
  64.       Disk 1    WSOS2_1
  65.       Disk 2    WSOS2_2
  66.       Disk 3    WSDRV_1
  67.       Disk 4    OS2UTIL_1
  68.       Disk 5    OS2DOC_1
  69.  
  70.     Example:  At the command line, type
  71.      
  72.                     Label A: WSOS2_1
  73.  
  74. 2.  Extract the .EXE files to their corresponding diskettes using
  75.     the -d option. WSOS21.EXE into WSOS2_1, WSOS22.EXE into WSOS2_2, etc.
  76.     The -d option will create the required subdirectory structure
  77.     and will allow the INSTALL program to run correctly.

  79.     Example:  At the command line, type
  80.  
  81.                     WSOS21 -d A:
  82.  
  83. 3.  After creating the 5 diskettes, insert WSOS2_1 diskette in drive A.
  84.  
  85. 4.  Open the drive A: icon on your desktop and open the INSTALL.EXE program.
  86.     The NetWare Client for OS/2 install screen appears.

  88. 5.  Follow the instructions on the screen or in the manual to complete the
  89.     install.

  93. Method 3: Extract to Hard Drive/Make Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  94.  
  95. 1.  Create the following subdirectories on your hard disk:
  96.     WSOS2_1, WSOS2_2, and WSDRV_1, OS2UT_1, and OS2DC_1
  97.      
  98.     Example:  At the C:\ prompt, type
  99.  
  100.                     MD WSOS2_1
  101.  
  102. 2.  Extract the .EXE files into their corresponding
  103.     subdirectories using the -d option.  WSOS21.EXE into WSOS2_1,
  104.     WSOS22.EXE into WSOS2_2, etc.
  105.  
  106.     Example:  At the command line, type
  107.  
  108.                     WSOS21 -d C:\WSOS2_1
  109.  
  110. 3.  Format 5 3.5" high density double-sided diskettes.
  111.  
  112. 4.  Label each diskette with the following names: 
  113.       Disk 1    WSOS2_1
  114.       Disk 2    WSOS2_2
  115.       Disk 3    WSDRV_1
  116.       Disk 4    OS2UTIL_1
  117.       Disk 5    OS2DOC_1

  119.     Example:  At the command line, type
  120.      
  121.                     Label A: WSOS2_1
  122.  
  123. 5.  Insert diskette labelled WSOS2_1 into drive A:.
  124.  
  125. 6.  Change directory to WSOS2_1 on your hard disk.
  126.  
  127. 7.  Type the following at the command line:
  128.  
  129.                     XCOPY *.* /S /E /V A:
  130.  
  131. 8.  Repeat steps 6 and 7 for the remaining 4 diskettes. Ensure that the
  132.     files are copied from the correct directory to the corresponding
  133.     labelled diskettes.
  134.  
  135. 9.  After creating the 5 diskettes, insert WSOS2_1 diskette in drive A.
  136.  
  137. 10. Open the drive A: icon on your desktop and open the INSTALL.EXE
  138.     program. The NetWare Client for OS/2 install screen appears. 
  139.  
  140. 11. Follow the instructions on the screen or in the manual to complete
  141.     the install.
