SysOp:
After many abortive attempts to defragment my OS2 boot drive [FAT],
I finally found a simple solution. The OS2 documentation outlines
a procedure which is slightly ambiguous. The following is an
edification of that procedure:
1. Insert the OS2 Installation Diskette into drive A:
2. Boot the system from drive A:
3. After the IBM logo screen appears, remove the Installation
Diskette, insert Diskette 1, and press enter.
4. At the prompt, press ESC to exit the installation program. The
system is now in OS/2 and at the A: prompt.
5. Remove Diskette 1 from the A: drive and insert a formatted
floppy diskette.
6. Enter the following commands at the A: prompt:
COPY C:\OS2\CHKDSK.COM A:
CHKDSK C:/F
Since the command is being executed from a drive other than the
subject drive, the following error will NOT appear:
The type of file system for the disk is FAT.
SYS0108: The disk is in use or locked by
another process.
