WARP390 logo replacement file for WARP on the IBM PC Server 500 S/390.
Gary Eheman eheman@vnet.ibm.com February 16, 1996
The logo that is displayed when you boot OS/2 WARP is a special format file
hidden in the root directory of your WARP boot drive. This file is
NOT (repeat NOT) a bitmap (BMP) file but is in another special format.
(Never try replacing the logo with a bitmap file. The system will most likely
fail to boot if you do.)
To install the WARP390 logo to replace the standard WARP boot logo
follow these instructions.
1. Make backup utility diskettes to recover your system. If you mess up
this logo replacement operation, you may not be able to BOOT OS/2 to fix
it. To make the backup utility diskettes, use the "Create Utility Diskettes"
icon in the OS/2 System Setup folder.
2. There is a hidden file named OS2LOGO in the root directory of your
WARP boot drive. To install the replacement:
(You *did* do step 1 above, didn't you?)
ATTRIB -R -A -H -S x:\OS2LOGO (where x: is your boot drive letter)
COPY x:\OS2LOGO x:\OS2LOGO.ORG (make a backup copy of the original)
COPY WARP390.LGO x:\OS2LOGO (copy in the replacement)
ATTRIB +R +A +H +S x:\OS2LOGO (put the attributes back on)
3. Shutdown OS/2 and reboot and watch the logo.
I have used this as replacement for both the OS/2 Warp Fullpack (shipped
with the PC Server 500 S/390) as well as WARP Connect. This will not work
with levels of OS/2 prior to WARP.

Due to popular demand, I am adding a bitmap of the image to the zip file
so that you might use it as your OS/2 desktop lockup background or other
appropriate bitmap use.
PLEASE, PLEASE, be careful to not mistakenly use the bitmap file instead
of the logo file as described above. The two files are NOT interchangeable.
If you make a mistake and copy in the .BMP into the OS2LOGO file, your
system will not boot.
The WARP390.BMP is a 640x480 resolution bitmap. (The boot logo cannot be
at a higher resolution, thus the bitmap is not.)
