  1. Kiwi Media Presents...

  3. Another in the series of musical fonts.
  4.  
  5. Ultraworld is a font based on the logo of the more recent projects by The Orb,
  6. the british ambient techno band.  It's big, it's round, and it looks pretty
  7. cool italicised or outlined (or both).
  8.  
  9. I've been asked why I do so many album cover fonts.  Well, aside from the fact
  10. that I listen to a lot of CDs, I find that some of the best graphic design (and
  11. subsequently type design) ends up on the covers of various albums.
  12.  
  13. And now the pitiful shareware plea:  please send me money.  $5 would be nice.
  14. Whatever you can muster.  As I usually say, the adoration of countless women
  15. and interantional fame and fortune would be nice if you can send that, but I'll

  21. So what's with this Kiwi thing?  Kiwi Media is a little computer arts group I
  22. formed in the mid eighties so I had something to put in the credits for the
  23. Apple // animations that I had been working on.   Since that time, it has grown
  24. to encompass almost two people and hold assets in the dozens of dollars.
  25.  
  26. I'm also going to plug the UPL shamelessly right here:  The UPL is the
  27. University of Wisconsin's CS Undergraduate Projects Lab.  It is a completely
  28. student administrated and coordinated computer lab, a place for students
  29. interested in learning programming and system administration can work
  30. independently in an environment conducive to such activities.  We currently
  31. have three workstations (two DEC 5000s and an HP 9000) and two old HP's that we
  32. use for XTerms.  If you know of any group interested in donating equipment or
  33. money to this lab, which is one of only a handful of such labs in the world,
  34. please contact me.  All our equipment is donated, and we are completely
  35. non-profit (all time and effort is donated too).

  37. Ok, enough of that.  Here's a list of fonts currently in existence that are
  38. made by Kiwi media:

  40. Devotion: A font based on the brushstroke handwriting on the cover of dM's
  41. "Songs of Faith and Devotion."
  42.  
  43. Erasure:  based on the curvy sans outline font on the cover of recent erasure
  44. albums.
  45.  
  46. SinGothic: A cool fractured font extrapolated from the cover of the NIN "Sin"
  47. single.
  48.  
  49. Ambient:  A small-caps based on the writing on Moby's "Ambient" album.
  50.  
  51. Ultraworld:  A bold, rounded font based on the logo of the ambient techno
  52. band, The Orb.
  53.  
  54. Technobats: a collection of 26 dingbats, logoes of
  55. techno/industrial/synthpop bands and some of their record labels.
  56.  
  57. Non-album cover fonts:
  58.  
  59. Bajoran:  The title font from Deep Space Nine.
  60.  
  61. Trekbats: A truly staggering array of trek logoes and emblems, including small
  62. pictures of various starships.
  63.  
  64. Kroebern: A script font taken from the 18th century script found on german
  65. manuscripts and official records.

  67. Non-Fonts:

  69. Starships volume 1:  A collection of Infini-D 2.0 starship models that look
  70. neat but render quickly and have enough space left over for customization.

  72. Warbird:  A short quicktime movie of a Romulan Warbird decloaking.  Rendered.

  74. Predator:  A klingon bird of prey flies over and fires.  A short rendered
  75. QT movie.
  76.
