this picture:
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ <hidden> Add element to variable list ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The Add.. Button
This button adds an element to the variable list. For example it can add a
directory to the PATH variable so that the files in the directory would be
available for execution.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ <hidden> Remove element from variable list ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The Remove.. Button
This button removes the selected element from the current variable list.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 8.1. Radio buttons ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Below are the radio buttons in the 'List View' dialog explained.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 8.1.1. Select ',' as list separator ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This radio button toggles the list separator to be a comma.
Thus when the dialog is dismissed with the 'OK' button, the list separator
saved in CONFIG.SYS is a comma.
An example of this is the AUTOSTART statement in OS/2:
AUTOSTART=PROGRAMS,TASKLIST,FOLDERS,CONNECTIONS,LAUNCHPAD

Γûá Trademarks
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 8.1.2. Select ':' as list separator ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This radio button toggles the list separator to be a semicolon.
Thus when the dialog is dismissed with the 'OK' button, the list separator
saved in CONFIG.SYS is a semicolon.
An example of this is the PATH statement in OS/2:
PATH=F:\OS2;F:\OS2\SYSTEM;F:\OS2\INSTALL;F:\;f:\bin;F:\OS2\MDOS;F:\OS2\APPS;F:\MMOS2;g:\apps\xlist;g:\APPS\GAMMA32;g:\APPS\BCOS2\BIN;f:\viewer\bin\;c:\utl;g:\apps\f....;

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 8.1.3. Select '+' as list separator ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This radio button toggles the list separator to be a plus sign.
Thus when the dialog is dismissed with the 'OK' button, the list separator
saved in CONFIG.SYS is a plus sign.
An example of this is the parameter the VIEW.EXE utility accepts which can be
an environment variable such as PMREF:
SET PMREF=PMFUN.INF+PMGPI.INF+PMHOK.INF+PMMSG.INF+PMREL.INF+PMWKP.INF+PMWIN.INF

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ <hidden> The 'Variable Value' list box ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The elements in the token separated list will be listed here. They can then be
edited by double-clicking on them.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 9. The 'Switch view' dialog ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This is the 'Switch view' dialog.
It displays switches of logically on/off type variables. I've only seen three
different types, so that is how many I've included.
These are: YES/NO, ON/OFF and TRUE/FALSE.
The image below contains hypergraphic links accessed by double-clicking on
them.

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ <hidden> Switches ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The switchpanel is a set of 6 radiobuttons. These represent 3 separate
logically switches: YES/NO, TRUE/FALSE and ON/OFF.
When the dialog is loaded the four radiobuttons which are irrelevant are
disabled.
For an example see the picture below. Here the value is 'ON', therefore NvPM
disables the Yes/No and True/False pairs.

view' of the variable, the value is shown just as it is in CONFIG.SYS. That
means that any lists are displayed for example like this:
SET NAME=VALUE1+VALUE2
This means it is up to the user (you) to make sure any lists or boolean
statements are entered accurately.

This is a requester for getting some idea of what you would want to do with you
changed environment.
You should note that if you've changed any variables that the system depends
upon without knowing what you where doing. You, my dear, might very well be
deeply f***ed.

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 12. Overview of N-Viro PM ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
N-Viro PM is an OS/2 system variable browser/editor.
Warning: Do not use this program if you do not know what you are doing!
System variables are often used by several different modules and can cause
conciderable damage if misused!
Please consult the command reference about the 'SET' statement if you are not
comfortable with the variables needed by the system.
The newest version of NvPM is available from the following WEB page:
http://www.hib.no/~db96jhb/Give/

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 12.1. More info on variables ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
System variables are dynamic information used by programs to make them adapt to
your system without recompiling the program.
They can be lists of variables, simple boolean statements (TRUE/FALSE) or
numeric/alphabetical values.
System variables are defined and initialized by the 'SET' keyword, either
globally or locally.
Globally set variables are listed in your CONFIG.SYS file and are set at
boot-time only. If new variables are to be set globally, a reboot is required.
Locally set variables are set at the command prompt or in a command file. The
variables set in a session only affects the current session and processes
started from it

Γûá Disclaimer
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 12.2. Variables recognized by N-Viro PM ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
N-Viro PM has built in routines to recognize three different types of
variables. These are as follows:
Γûá Lists
Γûá Switches
Γûá Other
These all have their coupled dialog boxes appropriatly named:
Γûá List View
Γûá Switch View
Γûá Pure View
For information on environment variables directly relative to your system,
please consult the OS/2 Command Reference (found in your ?:\OS2\BOOK directory,
where ? is you boot drive).
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 12.3. Modifying variables ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
You can modify existing variables already defined at startup or in the parent
process. You can do this in anumber of ways:
Γûá Double click with the left mouse button on the name in the listbox.
Γûá Press ENTER when the listbox has the focus.
Γûá Select menuitem 'Edit|Modify'.
See also:
Γûá Keys help
Γûá Trademarks
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 12.4. Adding new variables ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
When initiated a 'Pure View' dialog is presented and you can enter new values
to it. After editing, press the 'OK' button and your changes are saved.
Pressing 'Cancel' or hitting 'Escape' quits the dialog without making any
changes.
New variables are inserted at the end of your CONFIG.SYS file when it is being
updated. They appear beneath the following line:
REM The following lines added by NvPM dd/mm/year
See also:
Γûá Keys help
Γûá The 'Plus' button
Γûá The 'Edit|Add' menuitem
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 12.5. Deleting variables ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
When initiated NvPM simply deletes the variable from the NV class memory
object. Then when the update of CONFIG.SYS is initiated, the deleted variables
are 'REM'ed out in the file.
This means the variable is NOT actually deleted, it's merely "disabled".
