NoSwitch V2.0 - OS/2 Switch-list Utility
Copyright (c) 1994 Paul Mitchell/Mystic Software
What is NoSwitch?
-----------------
OS/2 is great for running many programs at the same time. However, switching
between them can sometimes be a pain. This is especially true if you load
utilities from your Startup folder. When you use Alt+Esc to cycle through the
programs, the startup utilities are included whether you want them or not (and
it's usually not)!
NoSwitch allows you to selectively remove programs from the Alt+Esc cycle. You
can them switch between your applications with greater speed.
Installing NoSwitch
-------------------
Copy the NOSWITCH.EXE file to somewhere convenient. \OS2\APPS is a good place.
Now, create a program reference object for NoSwitch on your desktop. When
you have done this, ensure that only the programs loaded during startup are
running then start NoSwitch.
You will see the list of available programs. Select the programs which should
*not* be included when using Alt+Esc. You can click the "Apply" button to
disable them immediately without saving, or you can click the "Save" button
to store the settings. Close NoSwitch when you are satisfied.
You probably won't need to change the timeout value at this point, so don't
worry.
Next, open the NoSwitch icon settings and add the text "X" to the Parameters
box. Close the settings, and move the NoSwitch icon into your Startup folder.
When you next restart your system, you will find that the programs you
selected will no longer be available through Alt+Esc.
Using NoSwitch
--------------
You may run the NoSwitch program at any time to disable more programs if you
want. If you don't enter any command-line parameters, you will be in
configuration mode. If you enter *any* command line parameter, NoSwitch will
run in startup mode which attempts to disable all the specified programs
within the timeout period.
NoSwitch says "Some switch list entries not processed". How come?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
This can happen if your startup takes a long time. NoSwitch is telling you
that some of the programs you specified were not running when the timeout
was reached. There are two solutions...
a) Configure NoSwitch for a longer timeout value.
b) Change the settings of your Startup folder to display in "Non-flowed"
mode. This gives you some control over the order in which the programs
will start. Place NoSwitch last for best results.
