This is a bare-bones version of a class library. The source code
contained within is an excerpt from that library. Initially, I
was just going to take out the method I use to create the status bar /
message bar / whatever, and present it separately from the rest of
the code.
After thinking about it a little, I decided to leave the basic functionality
of the library intact, in the hopes that it might turn somebody on to
Object Oriented Programming after seeing how easy it is to write an
app (cppapp.cpp) after you've layed the foundation. The other reason
was to show how to pull off some interesting tricks in PM. And finally,
I'm hoping that this won't remain stagnant; that as you and other
people use it or parts of it, that you'll be willing to add to it and
distribute freely the enhancements that you've made.
In a nutshell, the way the library "works" is like this: You declare
a variable of type "App"; set up your windows, etc.; then use the
"Run" method of "App" to start the message loop.
If you want to play around with changing the message to something
different when there's no selection, catch WM_MENUEND. Once you've
got the framework, it's easy and pretty cool to experiment with
different PM functions and messages - the bulk of the tedious work
is already written.
