ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1. About Validator Installation ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The Validator Installation program allows you to install the application and
its support files to your system.
You will be presented with two dialogues: one for the source drive and one for
the target drive and directories for where the application is to be stored.
You can in either dialogue, change the default values to suit your own
requirements. If you enter a new place to store the application or the default
locations do no exist on your system, the locations will be created
automatically for you.
When more than one disk is in the distribution package, you will be asked to
insert the appropriately labeled disk at the time it is required.
The Validator Installation program will also create for you a new folder for
the applications if you request it. It will also add the applications to the
folder as well.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2. Source Drive Dialogue ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This dialogue is asking you for the drive that it should use to copy the new
application files from. You can use any valid diskette drive you wish.
You select the drive to use from the spin button.
To continue the installation process, select the Continue push button
otherwise, if you wish to cancel the installation process, select the Exit push
button.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3. Target Directories Dialogue ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This dialogue is asking you for the drives and directories where the new
application files, help files, DLL, Include and Library files should be placed.
The default drive and directories are shown in the entry fields. You can
change the values to describe the locations where the files should be stored.
The format of the path must be:
x:\path
where x is the drive designation and the path is the the path.
You can have the installation process create a new folder for the applications
installed by selecting the Create new folder option above the entry fields.
To continue the installation process, select the Continue push button
otherwise, if you wish to cancel the installation process, select the Cancel
push button.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4. Update CONFIG.SYS Dialogue ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This dialogue is informing you that the program path(s) could not be found in
the CONFIG.SYS PATH= statement. It allows you to select how the update to the
CONFIG.SYS file should occur. The first option allows you to have the
Prominare Installation update CONFIG.SYS directly. The second option will save
the changes to a file called CONFIG.NEW.
If you select the first option, you should reboot your computer to allow the
new PATH= statement to take affect.
If you select the second option, you should edit the existing CONFIG.SYS file
and add the changes that occur in the CONFIG.NEW file.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5. Reboot Advice Dialogue ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This dialogue is informing you that you should reboot the computer since the
CONFIG.SYS PATH= statement has been updated to include the application path.
By rebooting, the new path will be accessible by the application.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6. Revise CONFIG.SYS Dialogue ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This dialogue is informing you that you should revise the CONFIG.SYS to include
the changes made to the original file and saved in the CONFIG.NEW file. After
you make the changes, you should reboot the computer to allow the new PATH=
statement to take effect.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 7. Printer Setup Dialogue ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This dialogue can be used to select a printer to use to print out the
information contained within the file being displayed or to setup up the
selected printer for special options.
To select a different printer than the one displayed, use the mouse pointer to
select the desired printer from the list box containing the list of available
printers.
To configure or setup the selected printer, you only need to click the mouse
pointer on the Setup... push button after which the setup dialogue for the
selected printer will be displayed.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 8. View Documentation Dialogue ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This dialogue can be used to select one of the online text files that is
distributed with the package. The selected file will be displayed such that
you can scroll through the information and if you want to print the
information, you can do so by clicking the mouse pointer on the Print push
button.
To close the displayed dialogue, simply double click the mouse pointer on the
system menu of the dialogue.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 9. Status Window ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Within the status window, you will see during the copying process, the names of
the files being copied from the distribution disks to your system's hard disk.
A percent complete status bar will visually inform you as to the progress of
the installation.
A Cancel button at the bottom of the window can be used at any time to cancel
the installation process.
