Late-Breaking News
------------------
10/28/96:
VERSION CHANGE NOTICE: This kit contains a Beta Release for STi's Twain
compliance to the Twain Working Group's Release 1.6 specification. Please
note that Version 1.6 clarified and mandated certain packing and
interface specifications that were left to the platform developer in the
Twain Specification Release 1.5. These data packing changes require that ALL
Scanner Data Sources and Driver (DS's) be recompiled to to be compliant.
All developers still working with the 1.5 release are advised to either
contact STi, or the scanner manufacturer, for upgraded scanner drivers
compliant with the new data packing alignment.
10/10/96:
The Acrobat* reader provided is a native OS/2 reader and is at a beta level
provided by Adobe. If you already have an Acrobat reader installed, you do
not have to install this component. If you install this component, when the
installation of the SDK is completed, you will have to manually run the
program OS2RD3B1.EXE which will be found in the \STi\TWAINSDK\ACROREAD
subdirectory to install the Acrobat reader.
The sample application supplied with the SDK is just that a SAMPLE. It is
provided to to show you how an application can be Twain enabled. It was not
designed to do color scans or be used in production environments.
Twain for OS/2 currently inverts the data from the scanner. This will be fixed
in a future release. When this is released, a checkbox will also be added to
the scanner dialog panel asking the user if they want to invert the data.
The following information applies to the Twain for OS/2 Scanner Driver Packs
