  1. Revised TOP FIle Naming Schemes

  3. All temporary .TOP files are being renamed to .TCH so there is less confusion
  4. over which files can be deleted, and so the temporary files can be found
  5. easier.  "TCH" stands for "TOP Chat", thus "TCH File" means "TOP Chat File"
  6. which is pretty much accurate.

  8. The following files have undergone naming structure changes.  The 5 chars for a
  9. node space allows up to 32767 nodes to be safely used.

  11.     MIDX###.TOP ---> MIX#####.TCH
  12.  
  13.     This is done simply to shorten the name.
  14.  
  15.     NODE###.TOP ---> MSG#####.TCH
  16.  
  17.     This is done to shorten the name as well as give a more accurate
  18. description of what the files are for.

  20.     CHR#####.TCH
  21.  
  22.     This is not used yet, but will be the new Char By Char data file, described
  23. in NEWCHAT.TXT.  The reason for the name is obvious.

  25.     PRV#####.TCH
  26.  
  27.     This is a Private Chat data file.  The format is a prototype of the method
  28. described in NEWCHAT.TXT.  The reason for the name is obvious.

  30.     EPR#####.TCH
  31.  
  32.     This is an Entered Private Chat file, and is used as a flag when a node is
  33. in a private chat.  The reason for the name is obvious.
