  35. Writes the characters given by \fIstring\fR to the file given
  36. by \fIfileId\fR.
  37. \fIFileId\fR must have been the return
  38. value from a previous call to \fBopen\fR, or it may be
  39. \fBstdout\fR or \fBstderr\fR to refer to one of the standard I/O
  40. channels; it must refer to a file that was opened for
  41. writing.
  42. If no \fIfileId\fR is specified then it defaults to \fBstdout\fR.
  43. \fBPuts\fR normally outputs a newline character after \fIstring\fR,
  44. but this feature may be suppressed by specifying the \fB\-nonewline\fR
  45. switch.
  46. Output to files is buffered internally by Tcl; the \fBflush\fR
  47. command may be used to force buffered characters to be output.
