| If you have a previous version of OpenDoc Developer's Kit 2 for OS/2 |
| installed on your system, you have to uninstall it previous to |
| installing OpenDoc for OS/2 Version 1.0. See <a href="3.7.3#HDROP8UNIN">"Uninstalling OpenDoc |</a>

|________________________________________________________________________|
<p>
The following are the three ways to install products from The Developer
Connection Catalog:
<p>
1. Select the line of the product you want to install, go to the Symbol
pull-down menu and select <B>Install</B> <B>Product</B>.
<p>
2. Display the pop-up menu of the object by clicking mouse button two on
the product line and selecting <B>Install</B> <B>product.</B>
<p>
3. Double-click with mouse button one on the line of the product to show
the product information screen.
<p>
<p>
To install OpenDoc for OS/2 Version 1.0 we describe the second of these
three methods.
<p>
Before installing OpenDoc for OS/2 Version 1.0 on your system, be sure to
check the hardware and software requirements detailed in <a href="3.1#HDRTKINSOU">"Installation</a>
<a href="3.1#HDRTKINSOU">Overview of OpenDoc for OS/2 for Users" in topic 3.1</a>.
<p>
1. Select <B>OpenDoc</B> <B>for</B> <B>OS/2</B> <B>(IBM)</B> from the IBM OS/2 (Discs 1/4) category
in The Developer Connection Catalog main view screen (<a href="3.4#FIG4610I84">Figure 73 in</a>
<a href="3.4#FIG4610I84">topic 3.4</a>).
<p>
2. Display the pop-up menu of the object by clicking mouse button two on
the product line as shown in<a href="#FIG4610I04"> Figure 74</a>.

<p>
<B>Help</B> Shows The Developer Connection help for product.
<p>
<B>Collapse</B> <B>category</B> Collapses the product category.
<p>
<B>View</B> <B>product</B> <B>information</B> Provides a brief description of the product and allows you to
install or try the product.
<p>
<B>Try</B> <B>product</B> Allows you to try some products from the CD-ROMs without
installing them. (Not all products can be tried.)
<p>
<B>Install</B> <B>product</B> Installs the product.
<p>
<B>Remove</B> <B>product</B> Removes product objects previously installed by
The Developer Connection. (Not all products can be removed
using this method.)

<p>
The Try Product push button is not available for OpenDoc for OS/2
Version 1.0 (shown as gray in <a href="#FIG4610I04">Figure 74</a>).
<p>
3. Select <B>Install</B> <B>Product</B> on the pop-up menu shown in <a href="#FIG4610I04">Figure 74</a>.
<p>
4. If you removed disc 3 of The Developer Connection for OS/2 Volume 9
Special Edition CD-ROM from your CD-ROM drive, you see the pop-up
window (shown in <a href="#FIG4610I80">Figure 75</a>) asking you to insert disc 3 in the drive.
You will need to insert it, indicate the path and select <B>OK</B> to

modifications before and not let the installation process
automatically update your CONFIG.SYS file, uncheck the Update
CONFIG.SYS option in<a href="#FIG4610I06"> Figure 77</a>. You will get the following warning
message (<a href="#FIG4610I81">Figure 78</a>).

<p>
If you select <B>Yes</B> on this message, the process will create a
CONFIG.ADD file containing the current version of CONFIG.SYS plus the
modifications necessary for OpenDoc for OS/2 Version 1.0 to run on
your system. To be able to use OpenDoc for OS/2 Version 1.0 on your
system you have to apply this modifications to the CONFIG.SYS file and
reboot the machine.
<p>
7. On the next screen (<a href="#FIG4610I07">Figure 79</a>) select <B>OpenDoc</B> <B>Base.</B>

To select OpenDoc Base, click on the OpenDoc Base line or select the
Select All button.
<p>
To check if you have enough disk space for the installation select the
<B>Disk</B> <B>Space</B> button (15 MB are needed). This will present the window
shown on <a href="#FIG4610I08">Figure 80</a>. In this window, you can change the drive where
you want OpenDoc for OS/2 Version 1.0 to be installed. To do so,
select from the list of drives the drive where you want to install it
(check that the space available on that drive is greater than the
amount specified on the right hand side of the window). Select the
<B>Change</B> <B>directories</B> <B>to</B> <B>selected</B> <B>drive</B> check box and select <B>OK</B>. This
will change the Base directory indicated in <a href="#FIG4610I07">Figure 79</a> to the drive you
selected. Some files will be copied to the boot drive (the OpenDoc
for OS/2 INI files) even if you select a different drive for the
installation of OpenDoc for OS/2, so around 200 KB of free space will
be needed on the boot drive as well.
<p>
