  10. If you have previously installed the pre-release
  11. version of the OpenDoc Developer's Kit for OS/2, you
  12. must remove it from your system prior to installing
  13. this feature.

  15. Destination directory changes will result in extra
  16. disk space usage as well as potential conflicts in
  17. which version of the files are used, prior INI entry
  18. changes, and the like.
  19.  
  20. To ensure all pre-release files are removed and the
  21. respective INI entries cleared, it is recommended that
  22. you reformat your OS/2 boot partition for a fresh
  23. start.

  31. OpenDoc For OS/2 is required for all OpenDoc functions
  32. including the Multimedia OpenDoc System that is included
  33. elsewhere within this product.
  34.  
  35. This package REQUIRES the prior installation of the FixPak and
  36. a re-boot to activate the changes made.
  37.  
  38. The Multimedia OpenDoc System does not require the prior
  39. installation of the Base Multimedia Function shipped with WARP.
  40. This package includes the full Base Multimedia Function.
  41.  
  42. This read me contains details of how to uninstall Multimedia
  43. Opendoc and OpenDoc for OS/2.  You will perform one re-boot in
  44. the middle of each uninstall routine.  These are critical at the
  45. indicated time.  If not done as listed, files will still be in
  46. use and therefore cannot be deleted.

  49. How to Uninstall Multimedia OpenDoc
  50. -----------------------------------
  51. The following steps must be used to uninstall Multimedia for Opendoc.
  52. This will also uninstall Multimedia.  You will have to install the
  53. Multimedia that came with your operating system in order to get the
  54. prior version of Multimedia.  The following step must be done in
  55. order.
  56.  
  57.    1. Find where Multimedia is installed on your machine.  Look for the
  58.       drive with the MMOS2 directory in the root directory.  Change
  59.       your directory to \MMOS2\INSTALL.
  60.  
  61.    2. Execute the cmd DINSTSND.CMD.
  62.  
  63.    3. Execute the cmd INSTMMVW.CMD -R.  Do not forget the parm '-R'.
  64.  
  65.    4. Remove all references to MMOS2 from your config.sys file.  In the
  66.       PATH, LIBPATH, and HELP statements just delete the clause containing
  67.       MMOS2.  Also delete anyother statement containing MMOS2.  Finally
  68.       delete the statement "SET NCDEBUG=4000".
  69.  
  70.    5. Reboot your machine.

  72.    6. Delete all files and sub-directories in MMOS2.  Erase all files in
  73.       MMOS2 and delete MMOS2.
  74.  
  75.    7. Delete the Multimedia folder that is on the desktop and all contents.
  76.       (This could be done prior to the re-boot.)

  78.    You have now successfully uninstalled Multimedia.  The Multimedia OpenDoc
  79.    will be removed with Multimedia.

  82. How to Uninstall OpenDoc for OS/2
  83. ---------------------------------
  84. The following steps must be used to uninstall Opendoc for OS/2.
  85. The following step must be done in order.
  86.  
  87.    1. Uninstall Multimedia OpenDoc if it is installed (see the process
  88.       above).
  89.  
  90.    2. Close all open OpenDoc documents.
  91.  
  92.    3. Delete the 'OpenDoc Templates' and 'OpenDoc Shell Plugins' folder from
  93.       the Workplace Shell desktop.
  94.  
  95.    4. Delete PARTREG.BTO, AVLSRVR.BTO, OPENDOC.INI and OSA.INI files, if they
  96.       exist, from the OS2 directory on your boot drive.
  97.  
  98.    5. Remove all references to OPENDOC from the config.sys.  These will
  99.       all be clause removals.
  100.  
  101.    6. Re-boot your machine.
  102.  
  103.    7. If you installed via the Developer Connection CDs, select the
  104.       Developer Connection Object on your desktop and find the object
  105.       for OpenDoc for OS/2.  Double click on it.  This will bring up the
  106.       Software Installer version for OpenDoc.

  108.    8. If you installed from a package on the BBs, then go into the
  109.       OPENPACK directory in that package and run INSTOD.  This will
  110.       bring up the Software Installer version for OpenDoc.

  112.    9. Do a deletion by selecting CONTINUE on the first screen.  Then
  113.       select 'Delete and Re-install' and the CONTINUE push button on
  114.       the second screen.  Select OpenDoc Base and the Delete pushbutton
  115.       on the next screen.

  117.    When this is completed, you have now successfully uninstalled OpenDoc
  118.    for OS/2.

  121. System Requirements during Installation
  122. =======================================
  123.  
  124. The SWAPPER.DAT file may grow during this installation.
  125. To do a full installation on an 8MB RAM system, at least 16MB
  126. of disk space should be available to SWAPPER.DAT.
  127. Systems with more RAM require less disk space (for
  128. example, a system with 16MB RAM will require 10MB of
  129. disk space for a full installation).

  131. You must have at least 16 MB of disk space on your installation drive.
