Welcome To VENDOR
This file contains important "Getting Started" information. Please read
this file first.
This file contains important "Last Minute Information" that is not contained in the regular VENDOR documentation.
Getting Started:
The "Vendor Server Installation Diskette" contains an INSTALL.EXE program
in the root directory. This program creates a "Vendor Admin" group on the
current workstation and then runs the "Vendor Administration Program". The
"Vendor Administration Program", also known as VNDADMIN, is used to install
or update Vendor Servers, as well as configure Vendor Servers.
On-line documentation is located in the \DOCS subdirectory of the
installation diskette. The ADMINDOC.INF file contains administrative
information and describes in detail how to install and maintain a Vendor
Server. The RXUTILS.INF file contains information regarding the RXUTILS
function package. The GIME.INF file contains information regarding the
GIME utility. All INF files may be browsed with the OS/2 VIEW program.
For example, to view the ADMINDOC, you would execute: VIEW ADMINDOC
Additional Information:
1. The INSTALL program contained in the same directory as this READ.ME file
has been C/I/D enabled to the extent that it supports a response file
and can be run from any drive and directory. VIEW the ADMINDOC for
more information regarding the INSTALL program.
2. The Vendor client program requires the VENDOR.DLL, VNDPRG.DLL,
VNDNET.DLL and VNDTCP.DLL Dynamic Link Library (DLL) files.
Please ensure that they are installed in a directory along the
users LIBPATH.
3. The administrative documentation does not describe the Vendor Client
program. See the User's Guide for Vendor Client information. All
Vendor Client modules are located in the \VNDCLNT subdirectory of
the "Vendor Server Installation" diskette.
- Copy VENDOR.EXE to a directory specified in the users PATH.
- Copy *.DLL files to a directory specified in the users LIBPATH.
- Copy *.HLP files to a directory specified in the users HELP path.
4. This version of Vendor supports OS/2 TCP/IP with NFS as well
as IBM LAN Server for a LAN infrastructure.
