  4. NetDoor Catalog allows you to add applications from the NetDoor environment to 
  5. your workstation.  When adding an application to your workstation with NetDoor 
  6. Catalog, NetDoor Catalog creates a application object on your desktop for 
  7. accessing the application, and configures your workstation for using the 
  8. application. 
  9.  
  10. The major feature of the NetDoor Catalog Main Window is the Application List. 
  11. The Application List is a list of all the available applications on NetDoor. 
  12. Select the application you are interested in from this list. 
  13.  
  14. Once you have selected an application from the Application List, you can add 
  15. the application to your system, remove the application from your system, try 
  16. the application, or get more info about the application by pressing the Add 
  17. Button, Remove Button, Try Button, or Info Button respectively.

  19. For information about the menus in the main window, select one of the 
  20. following:

  33. The Application List contains all the applications that can be added to your 
  34. system. 
  35.  
  36. Applications are categorized into groups.  Application names within groups are 
  37. initially hidden from view.  The  control allows you to expand a group to show 
  38. all the applications in that group.  The  control will collapse the 
  39. applications in a group so they are not visible in the application list. 
  40.  
  41. Each application listed has a name and a short discription.  A  has been placed 
  42. next to applications that the NetDoor administrators recommend for all NetDoor 
  43. users. A  will be placed next to applications that are not supported, so if you 
  44. have problems with these applications, you may not be able to get help.  A 
  45. will be placed next to applications that you have already added to your system.

  50. Pressing the Add button will allow you to add the application selected in the 
  51. Application List to your system.  NetDoor Catalog will show the Add Application 
  52. To Group Window if you are running OS/2 1.3, or the Add Application To Folder 
  53. Window if you are running OS/2 2.0, which allows you to specify where to create 
  54. the desktop object for the application. NetDoor Catalog will also run any 
  55. nesessary configuration for the application.

  57. Note:  You can only add or remove one application at a time.  The Add button 
  58. will be disabled while an application is being configured or removed.

  63. Pressing the Remove button will remove the application selected in the 
  64. Application List from your system.  Some applications do not support the remove 
  65. option, and you will not be able to use the remove button.  Contact the system 
  66. administrators for help removing these applications.

  68. Note:  You can only add or remove one application at a time.  The Remove button 
  69. will be disabled while and application is being configured or removed.

  74. Pressing the Try button allows you to try the application selected in the 
  75. Application List without adding it to your system.  The selected application 
  76. will be run on your machine for you, but you will not have a application object 
  77. added to your desktop.  Some applications that require your machine to be 
  78. configured correctly can't be tried, and you will not be able to use the Try 
  79. button.

  85. application selected in the Application List.  The Application Information

  92. The File menu allows you to select which data file to use or to exit NetDoor 
  93. Catalog.

  96. allows you to select a data file for NetDoor Catalog to use.

  181. vice-versa.

  186. The Help menu will bring up this help window.  Select one of the help menu 
  187. items for the type of help that you would like to see.  You can get help 
  188. anywhere in NetDoor Catalog by pressing F1 or a Help button.

  191. the version of NetDoor Catalog you are running.

  202. The Read Data Files window displays all available NetDoor Catalog data files in 
  203. the Data File List.  The data files are where NetDoor Catalog gets the 
  204. information to fill the Application List.

  206. By default, all listed files are loaded when NetDoor Catalog starts. Since you 
  207. may wish to only load a subset of the available data files the Data Files 
  208. window has been provided. You may select one or more of the data files and 
  209. press the OK Button to load them, or press the Cancel Button to leave without 
  210. loading the data files.

  236. window is used to specify which Desktop Manager Group you would like to add the 
  237. application object to.

  239. You can enter a title for the new object in the Application Title Field.

  241. You can also specify which group to add the application to by typing the name 
  242. of the group in the Group Field or selecting a group from the Group List.

  244. If you are adding the application object to the NetDoor group, you may check 
  245. the Open When System Started Check Box, if you want the application to start 
  246. automatically when you reboot your machine.

  248. Once you have specified the title and group for the new application object, 
  249. press the Add Button to add the application to your system.

  264. Enter the name of the Desktop Manager Group where you want to create the 
  265. application object in the Group field.  You may select an entry from the list 
  266. to add the pplication to an existing group, or type in a name to create a new 
  267. group for the application object.

  269. By default, all added applications that have group entries will be added to the 
  270. NetDoor group.

  272. The application object will be created when you press the Add Button.

  299. the Main Window, if you are running OS/2 2.0.  The Add Application to Folder 
  300. window is used to specify which Folder you would like to add the application 
  301. object to.

  305. You can also specify which folder to add the application to by selecting a 
  306. folder name from the Folder List.

  340. new application object will be created in the NetDoor Startup Folder when you 
  341. press the Add Button. Some applications can't be shadowed to the NetDoor 
  342. Startup Folder, and this option will not be available.

  361. The Application Information window displays information about a selected 
  362. application. 
  363.  
  364. The window consists of a discription box, that gives a brief description of 
  365. what the application does or is used for.

  367. The previously added box, shows whether or not you've added the application. 
  368. If you have, it will show the title of the object, and the group, or folder it 
  369. was added to, as well as the date and time it was added. 
  370.  
  371. There are five check boxes with additional information about the application: 
  372.  
  373.  Recommended              If checked, this application is recommended by the 
  374.                           NetDoor administrators for all NetDoor users. 
  375.  
  376.  Supported                If checked, this application is supported by the 
  377.                           NetDoor administrators and/or the original author(s) 
  378.                           of the application.  If this is not checked, you may 
  379.                           not be able to get assistance if you have problems 
  380.                           with the application. 
  381.  
  382.  In Beta Test             If checked, this application is currently in a beta 
  383.                           test cycle.  This means the application is currently 
  384.                           under development and you may observe strange 
  385.                           behavior from such applications. Report any problems 
  386.                           to the author(s). 
  387.  
  388.  Configuration Required   If checked, this application requires some 
  389.                           configuration to run correctly on your machine. This 
  390.                           generally means that changes may be necessary to your 
  391.                           CONFIG.SYS file, or files need to be copied to your 
  392.                           machine.  Most applications that require 
  393.                           configuration are not tryable. 
  394.  
  395.  Reboot Required          If checked, you will need to shutdown, and restart 
  396.                           your machine after adding this application for it to 
  397.                           work correctly.

  400. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6. Find Window ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  402. The Search window allows you to enter a string to search for in the Application 
  403. List. Since NetDoor Catalog may display information about many applications, it 
  404. is often helpful to search for a particular application if you know the name of 
  405. the application, or a short phrase that describes what it does. 
  406.  
  407. The string you want to search for should be entered in the Search String Field. 
  408. The Search Options box in the Search window, allows you to choose search 
  409. options.  Check the Case Sensitive Search Check Box if you want to search for a 
  410. word or phrase only in the case you enter in the Search String field.  Check 
  411. the Search Through Application Titles Only Check Box if you don't want to 
  412. search the application descriptions.

  414. Press the OK Button to start the search. 
  415.  
  416. Press the Cancel Button to close the Search window without searching.

  421. Enter the string you want to find in the Application List in the Search String 
  422. field.

  429. If the Case Sensitive Search check box is checked, the search will be case 
  430. sensitive. For example, if you enter a string in the Search String Field in all 
  431. lower case, the search will only find a match that is all lower case.  If this 
  432. is not checked, it will find matches that are upper case as well.

  437. If the Search Through Application Titles Only check box is checked, only the 
  438. application titles in the Application List will be searched.  If this is not 
  439. checked, the application descriptions will be searched as well.

  455. The Set Colors window allows you to set the text colors for the various fields 
  456. displayed in the Application List.

  458. The current colors for the Group, Title and Description fields are displayed in 
  459. the Sample box.  To change the color of a field, select it from the Fields List 
  460. or click on the sample text, then click on the desired color. 
  461.  
  462. To save your color choices, press the OK Button. 
  463.  
  464. To leave without making any changes, press the Cancel Button.

  469. The Fields list contains a list of the text fields displayed in the Application 
  470. List that you can change the color of.

  474.  Group          The title text of the application groups.

  476.  Title          The title of the applications contained within a group. 
  477.  
  478.  Description    The description of the applications contained within a group.

  499. All the messages and errors presented by Catalog have a message number of the 
  500. form COUxxxx. Following is a list of messages in numerical order with some 
  501. explanation, and possible solutions for errors. 
  502.  
  503.  COU0005     Fatal Error:  Unable to load xxx.DLL 
  504.  
  505.              CATALOG.DLL is missing, corrupt, or is not along the LIBPATH. 
  506.              CATALOG.DLL must be somewhere along the LIBPATH for all OS/2 2.x 
  507.              users. (CATALOG.DLL is not necessary for OS/2 1.3 users.) 
  508.  
  509.  COU0006     Fatal Error:  Unable to load functions from xxx.DLL 
  510.  
  511.              CATALOG.DLL is corrupt, or downlevel, but does exist along the 
  512.              LIBPATH. CATALOG.DLL needs to be replaced with a working copy. 
  513.  
  514.  COU0007     Unable to allocate memory. 
  515.  
  516.              This is an internal error. 
  517.  
  518.  COU0008     The environment of your machine is incorrect.  Contact your 
  519.              NetDoor administrators. 
  520.  
  521.              COUENV.DLL returned an error while attempting to query directory 
  522.              names. COUENV.DLL may be downlevel, or the NETDOOR.INI file may be 
  523.              corrupt or missing. A re-installation of NetDoor may solve the 
  524.              problem. 
  525.  
  526.  COU0009     An error occured trying to create a thread to load the data files. 
  527.              The data files will be loaded in the foreground. 
  528.  
  529.              This is an internal error.  Catalog should continue to work 
  530.              without problems. 
  531.  
  532.  COU0010     An error occured trying to create the help window.  Help will be 
  533.              unavailable. 
  534.  
  535.              This can by caused by a missing CATALOG.HLP file, or if 
  536.              CATALOG.HLP is not along the HELP path. The CATALOG.HLP file must 
  537.              be along the HELP path for help to work properly. 
  538.  
  539.  COU0011     The program 'xxx' could not be found, and therefore could not be 
  540.              added. 
  541.  
  542.              This happens when you pass an invalid program name as a parameter 
  543.              to coreadd. Also can be a configuration backend attempting to 
  544.              recursivly add another program through RXCADD which is missing 
  545.              from the data file(s). 
  546.  
  547.  COU0012     The program 'xxx' could not be found, and therefore could not be 
  548.              removed. 
  549.  
  550.              A configuration backend attempted to recursivly remove another 
  551.              program through RXCADD which is missing from the data file(s). 
  552.  
  553.  COU0013     Go to the 'Configuring xxx' session and complete the required 
  554.              configuration.  You must reboot your machine to activate the 
  555.              addition of xxx. 
  556.  
  557.              Catalog successfully started a simple configuration program. 
  558.  
  559.  COU0014     Go to the 'Configuring xxx' session and complete the required 
  560.              configuration.  xxx will be added to your system after the 
  561.              configuration completes. 
  562.  
  563.              Catalog successfully started a simple configuration program. 
  564.  
  565.  COU0015     xxx added successfully.  You must reboot your machine to activate
