THESE FEATURES ARE NOT COVERED IN THE MIG2.DOC FILE
*************************** ATTENTION ****************************
WHAT IS NEW FOR ver. 2.00
I had originally planned many things for Mig2 but Warp changed most of those
plans. Warp's own migration tool got faster and smarter. Several other tools
have came on the market with exhaustive sets of functions. So, I've decided
too keep Mig2 fairly simple. Hence forth there are relatively few enhancements
to this version. If you users, both registered or not, have some ideas for
new features, please contact me at hkypuck@ibm.net on the internet
or on Compuserve at 76547,503 - Gary L. Robinson.
NEW FEATURES! NEW FEATURES! NEW FEATURES! NEW FEATURES!
NEW : Mig2 can now create folders on the desktop - in two different ways.
Either through selecting, through the menu ( click icon up in left corner
to get menu ) selection Create New Folder OR by checking the Prompt
check box on the main screen. When you are prompted with the
Executable Parameters Box either type in a new folder name in the
last field ( Folder field ) or press the find button to select a currently
existing folder. Of course this second method of creating a folder
is only used when you are migrating an executable to the desktop and
when it migrates the file, it will put it in the folder that is named in
the folder field. The first method, through the menu, will just create
a new folder. Only top level folders can be created - not nested
folders. The find function, also, just finds top level folders - and will
display them as their file directory name. Which may not be exactly the
same as their name on the desktop.
NEW : Mig2 can now make COPIES or SHADOWS of ALMOST ANY file or directory.
The only exception is, that it CAN NOT make a copy or shadow of a
whole drive. For instance, you can make a shadow or copy of the
C:\OS2 directory or any other directory but NOT C:\ - the whole
volume. To make a shadow of a file or directory use the Selected File
Name or the Current Path entryfields at the bottom of the main screen.
Just drag off the selected file or the current path and drop it on the
desktop. You DO NOT need to hold the CTRL and SHIT keys down to
make a SHADOW. This is the natural way that making a shadow on the
OS/2 desktop is done. But in Mig2 the DEFAULT drag motion off these
two fields will make a shadow. If you insist using the CTRL+SHIFT keys -
feel free to do so. That will still make a shadow. To make a COPY of
a file or directory hold down on the CTRL key only and initiate a drag
off of either of the entry fields. This will actually COPY the selected
file or directory tree - so be aware of what you are doing. I did NOT
make it so you could initiate a MOVE operation. I did not want to get
bomb threats when some new or adventurous OS/2 user attempted to
move their C:\DESKTOP directory and drop in on the desktop. Too
dangerous!
That's about it. Doesn't sound like a lot new but old users will, i'm sure enjoy
the power of these new features. If you have any new ideas - give me a
buzz!
