  9. The new LEDA version available on our ftp server is "LEDA-R-3.4". The "R" 
  10. stands for research and has been added to make it distinguishable from 
  11. the commercial version distributed by LEDA Software GmbH. Please read
  12. the Changes files for information about new features and other changes.

  15. LEDA-R-3.4 can be used free of charge in academic research and teaching.
  16. Licenses for the commercial version "LEDA 3.4" are distributed by the 
  17. LEDA Software GmbH.

  19. DIFFERENCES BETWEEN LEDA AND LEDA-R
  20.  
  21. The only difference between LEDA-R and LEDA is that the research version 
  22. may contain additional data types, algorithms or other features which are 
  23.   - experimental (not tested enough or not working on all platforms)
  24.   - of interest only for particular research
  25.   - temporary (may be removed or changed in future versions)
  26. The commercial version  will never contain data types, algorithms or 
  27. features of this kind. It is supposed to stay backward consistent in 
  28. the sense that old programs should work with new versions of LEDA.

  31. WHO NEEDS A LICENSE?
  32.  
  33. - Every organization that uses LEDA and is not an academic research
  34.   institute or school.
  35.  
  36. - Everyone who sells programs that are developped using LEDA.
  37.  
  38. - Everyone who delivers programs that are developped using LEDA to
  39.   non-academic organisations.
  40.  
  41. Holders of a licence for the commerical version are free to also 
  42. use the research version for commercial use.
