  8. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING LICENSE INFORMATION CAREFULLY.

  10.   -  You are permitted to use or copy for your own use or for back-up,  the
  11.      enclosed programs and related files only under our license terms as
  12.      described below.  We (Edge Research Inc.) are the owners of
  13.      all of the enclosed files under copyright and other laws.

  15.   -  If you do not wish to use this program yourself under the license terms, 
  16.      please dispose of it in a manner that will not permit others to use it.

  19. 1.   Licensed Program and Materials.
  20.  
  21. This license applies to three products: htVISUAL, htGLUE (our interoperability 
  22. layer), and HiTest API, our enhanced API for Lotus Notes.  These programs will be 
  23. collectively referred to as "HiTest Tools".

  25. If you believe that you may have an unauthorized copy of HiTest Tools, 
  26. please call us at (603) 431-5300, and we will tell you how to obtain
  27. a legal and uncorrupted copy.  Also, please destroy the unauthorized or 
  28. corrupted files.

  31. 2.   Scope of License.
  32.  
  33. We grant you the following free rights to use HiTest Tools.
  34.  
  35.   -  HiTest Tools may be used free of charge on up to two (2) 
  36.      computers at any one Company (see definition below).  For additional
  37.      use, you will need a paid license from us.
  38.  
  39.   -  To distribute HiTest Tools or products built using HiTest Tools
  40.       to others, you will need a paid license from us.
  41.  
  42.   -  A "Company" is any corporation or business entity, including
  43.      any and all subsidiaries of such corporation or business entity.

  45. This free license has the following restrictions:
  46.  
  47.   -  You may not sell or resell HiTest Tools to others, either in
  48.      its original form or as part of another software or system
  49.      product, unless you obtain an appropriate paid license from
  50.      us.
  51.  
  52.    -  Your technical support shall be limited to the user documentation
  53.      included in the HiTest Tools distribution package and to
  54.      using any open access support databases that we maintain.  For
  55.      telephone support, you will need to pay us as described below.

  60. 3.   Support Option.

  62. Users of HiTest Tools under this free license have the option of
  63. receiving telephone support for $500 per year per person per product. 
  64. A separate support fee shall apply to every user at a Company who
  65. wants to contact us for support. Support fee payments shall be made to 
  66. Edge Research Inc., One Harbour Place, Suite 455, Portsmouth, NH  
  67. 03801-3781.

  70. 4.  Ownership.

  72. All information, programs and other materials contained in
  73. HiTest Tools are our property, or the property of people or
  74. businesses from whom we have license rights, under the copyright
  75. law and other laws.  All source code for the computer programs in
  76. HiTest Tools is confidential and proprietary.  You agree not to
  77. permit others to view or attempt to view the source code, or to reverse
  78. engineer the programs.

  80. Although we permit you to use and copy HiTest Tools for free
  81. under certain conditions, your license depends on your adherence
  82. to these license terms.  We do not waive or abandon any of our
  83. property rights in HiTest Tools.  All copies of HiTest Tools will
  84. conspicuously display our name, Edge Research Inc., as the creators
  85. and owners  of HiTest Tools.

  88. 5.  Modifications.

  90. You agree not to make any changes to HiTest Tools.

  93. 6.  Termination.

  95. We permit you to use and copy HiTest Tools only on the terms 
  96. described in this License.  If you violate this License, we can terminate 
  97. immediately.  Upon termination, you agree to immediately destroy or 
  98. return to us all copies of HiTest Tools.

  101. 7.  Warranty.

  103. NO WARRANTY FOR FREE LICENSE USE.  HITEST  TOOLS
  104. IS PROVIDED "AS IS" FOR ALL PURPOSES UNDER THIS FREE LICENSE.

  106. We will not be liable for any incidental, consequential, indirect or other
  107. damages due to the loss of data, loss of business profits, business
  108. interruption or any other reason, even if we or an agent of ours has been
  109. advised of the possibility of such damages.

  114. 8. Validity of Agreement.

  116. If any provision of this agreement is found void, invalid or unenforceable, 
  117. it will not affect the validity of the balance of this agreement, which shall 
  118. remain valid and enforceable according to its terms.

  121. 9.   Paid Licenses.  
  122.  
  123. We offer a variety of paid licenses for different uses of HiTest Tools 
  124. not covered by this free license, such as site licenses, distribution licenses 
  125. and bundling licenses.  Please contact us if you would like to receive these 
  126. or other licenses for HiTest Tools.
