  1. This directory contains the demo version of Hamilton C shell(tm) for OS/2.
  2. It supports both OS/2 1.x and OS/2 2.x.

  5. Hamilton C shell is a much more powerful alternative to the standard
  6. command processor on OS/2 and comes with virtually all the day-to-day
  7. utilities most folks will ever need.  Careful attention has been paid
  8. to making this the best possible product on OS/2.  For example, even
  9. though it certainly provides all the power (and much more!) of the
  10. original UNIX C shell, this is not simply a cosmetic attempt to 
  11. make OS/2 look more like Unix.

  13. Price, including shipping by air, is $350 in the U.S., $365 in Canada
  14. or Mexico or $395 elsewhere.  On quantity 5 or more, there is a 5%
  15. discound.  We accept purchase orders from most U.S. organizations of
  16. recognized credit; international orders must be prepaid in U.S. dollars.
  17. We accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover cards, bank
  18. wires and checks drawn on a U.S. bank

  20. Except for the addition of demo.exe, the ASCII text and Postscript versions
  21. of the User Guide and this readme.1st file, the layout you see, including
  22. even the detailed release notes in readme.too, is just what you'd see in the
  23. actual product version.

  25. The shell itself, in bin\cshdemo.exe, has been crippled so it will allow you
  26. to type only 5 commands before it will exit but will let you run scripts
  27. of any arbitrary length.

  29. The utilities in the bin directory have crippled so they will only run when
  30. invoked from the demo version of the C shell but are otherwise fully
  31. functional.  All the utilities provide help screens if you start them
  32. with the -h option.

  34. The samples directory contains a number of sample C programs and C shell
  35. scripts which we hope you'll find helpful in experimenting with the C
  36. shell.

  38. It is not necessary to actually install this package onto your hard disk
  39. to try it out.  Simply type "demo" and you're off and running!
