This choice produces a screen that offers the title and version number of the

The Cancel pushbutton removes a window without applying any changes made in

an entry field will be as follows:
o Any selected text in the control will be deleted.

o The source of the dropped text will not be changed.

o If you already have installed this release of DAE Communications System with
this installation program, the options you already have installed are
selected.
- If you want to add installation options, leave the selected options as is,
and select only the new options you want to add. Be sure the Force
reinstall of selected options check box is not selected. Then, select OK.
- If you want to reinstall DAE Communications System, select the options
that you want to install. Select the Force reinstall of selected options
check box. Then, select OK.
o If you already have installed a previous release of DAE Communications
System, the default options are selected. Do the same procedures you would
do if installing DAE Communications System for the first time. Be sure to
select the Backup configuration files option.

View and select or deselect installation options from the list by doing one of
the following.
o If you are installing DAE Communications System for the first time, the
default options are selected.

o If you already have installed this release of DAE Communications System with
this installation program, the options you already have installed are
selected.

This option makes updates to the CONFIG.SYS file that are required to run DAE
Communications System. It is recommended that you select this option.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 44.3. Backup Previous Configuration Files Option - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This option makes a backup of previous DAE Communications System configuration
files before installing DAE Communications System. Select this option if you
are reinstalling or migrating from a previous release.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 44.4. Base System Options - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The base system options install files required to run DAE Communications
System.
o Base system--This option installs the minimum files required to run DAE
Communications System. You must install this option.
o Base system - control blocks--This option installs the DAE Communications
System configuration files. Either you must install this option, or you must
supply your own DAE Communications System configuration files.
o Base system - CIM data interface--This option installs the files required to
run the CIM data interface (CDIN) component. You must install this option if
you want to communicate with a host node containing Common Data
Facility/Multiple Virtual Storage (CDF/MVS) by means of DAE Communications
System requests.
o Base system - toolkit--This option installs an index to the Toolkit and
migration files. It is recommended that you install this option.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 44.5. Development Support Options - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The following options install the files required to develop DAE applications.
o Development support--This option installs the core development support files
required to develop a DAE application. You must install this option if you
plan to install any of the other development support options.
o Development support - OI--This option installs the files required to develop
DAE applications that interact with users using the DAE Communications System
operator interface (OI) requests. You must install this option if you plan to
develop DAE applications that use the OI requests.
o Development support - C language--This option installs the files specific to
the C language. You must install this option if you plan to develop
applications in the C language.
o Development support - Assembler--This option installs the files specific to
the assembler lanaguage. You must install this option if you plan to develop
applications in the assembler language.
o Development support - Pascal--This option installs the files specific to the
Pascal language. You must install this option if you plan to develop
applications in the Pascal language.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 44.6. Toolkit Options - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The following options install the DAE Communications System Toolkit.
o Toolkits--This option does not install any files, but must be selected if you
select any of the Toolkit options.
o Toolkit - Sample programs--This option installs sample DAE Communications
System programs written in the C language.
o Toolkit - Network management--This option installs sample programs and code
points that demonstrate how to use the network management component of DAE
Communications System to route alerts to the NetView, NetView/PC, or both.
o Toolkit - BIOA--This option installs files required to use the basic I/O
access services (BIOA) tool of DAE Communications System and also installs
sample programs that demonstrate how to use the BIOA tool.
o Toolkit - User interface--This option installs sample programs that
demonstrate how to use the user interface component of DAE Communications
System.
o Toolkit - DDMS--This option installs sample programs that demonstrate how to
use the device data management support (DDMS) component of DAE Communications
System. This option also installs sample logical device interface tasks
(LDITs), sample logical device interface procedures (LDIPs), sample
communication protocol programs (CPPs), and prebuilt servers for
Allen-Bradley, Texas Instruments, MODICON, and GE Fanuc devices. The
prebuilt servers can be used only with the IBM Communication Protocol
Programs/A licensed program.
o Toolkit - Data stream functions--This option installs files required to use
the data stream functions tool of DAE Communications System.
o Toolkit - Logical device interface task--This option installs files
containing a sample asynchronous logical device interface task (LDIT) and a
program for testing the sample asynchronous LDIT.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 44.7. Remote Function Manager Options - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The following options install files required to run the remote function manager
transaction enabler (TxE) component of DAE Communications System and develop
TxE applications.
o Remote function manager base
o Remote function manager server
o Remote function manager client
o Remote function manager database console
o Remote function manager assets sample
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 44.8. Device data management support (DDMS) Options - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The following options install the files required to run applications that use
the device data management support (DDMS) component of DAE Communications
System and to develop applications that use the DDMS component.
o Device data management support (DDMS)--This option installs the files
required to run and develop applications that use the DDMS component of DAE
Communications System.
o DDMS - Microsoft C Support--This option installs the files required to build
DDMS servers or develop applications that use the DDMS component of DAE
Communications System using Microsoft C.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 44.9. Communications System Workbench (CSW) Options - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The following options install the files required to use the Communications
System Workbench (CSW) tool of DAE Communications System. The CSW tool is a
graphical user interface (GUI) tool that helps in developing the user interface
portion of a DAE application.
o CSW - Base--This option installs CSW runtime files.
o CSW - Buildtime--This option installs CSW buildtime files.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 44.10. 32-Bit Option - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This option installs the files required to develop 32-bit DAE Communications
System applications.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 44.11. Network Management Tables - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This option installs files required by the network management component of DAE
Communications System. The network management component is required if you
want applications to route alert messages to NetView/PC, Netview, or both.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 45. Completion Window - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The installation program is complete.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 46. Insert Diskette - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Remove the diskette currently in the source drive, if any, and replace it with
the proper diskette. When the proper diskette is in the source drive, select
OK.

All installation options that have not already been applied to this node will
be applied now. If you do not want the installation options to be applied to

Use the field in this window to specify the drive and path where you want to
install the DAE Communications System server files.

Specify the drive and path of a subdirectory, on a network server, in which to
install the licensed program files. If you have more than one licensed program,
the path must be unique for each program.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 51. Install Files Exist - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Installation files for different licensed programs must be placed in separate
subdirectories. You can take the following actions:
o If you select OK, the licensed program already in this subdirectory will be
overwritten.
o You can clean up extraneous files in this subdirectory by going to an OS/2
session and deleting them.
o If you select Cancel, you will return to the prior window where you can
specify a different subdirectory and continue this installation.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 52. Server Install Complete - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The server installation completed successfully. You now can install DAE
Communications System from the server files rather than from the installation
diskettes.
To install DAE Communications System on the local node, use either this program
or the NETDIST utility. To install DAE Communications System from the on
remote nodes, use the NETDIST utility.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 53. Abnormal Stop - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
If the installation program is exited at this time, critical files may not have
been installed or important configurations may not have been performed. To
ensure a working product, continue the installation or restart the installation
program, and follow it through to completion.

The Installation program exited before the normal completion. Critical files
may not have been installed or important configurations may not have been
performed. To ensure a working product, restart the Installation program, and

The target might not have enough free storage to install the licensed program
successfully. If a previous installation of the licensed program exists on the
target, some of the files will be updated; however, not all files will be
updated. The system might not require the full amount of free storage to
install successfully. You can do the following:
o Attempt to continue this installation. If you run out of storage, you must
free up storage, then, start the installation again.
o Free up storage, then, start the installation again.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 56. Invalid Target - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The target chosen cannot be used.
Possible reasons include:
o Access denied
o Drive locked by another process.

The directory could not be created.
Possible reasons include:

The file could not be opened.
Possible reasons include:
o Access denied
o Cannot make directory entry.
o Not enough space on the disk.
o Drive locked by another process.

o Invalid access code.
o Invalid parameter.
o Unknown media type.
o Open/create failed due to explicit fail command.
o Path not found.
o Sharing buffer overflow.
o Sharing violation.
o Too many open files (no handles left).

The file does not exist.

The file could not be unpacked.
Possible reasons include:
o Warning error (such as failed CRC check).
o Error in ZIP file.
o Insufficient memory.
o File not found. No ZIP files found.
o Bad or illegal parameters specified.
o No files found to extract/view etc.
o Disk full.
o Unexpected EOF in ZIP file.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 62. Script Error - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The script file encountered an error. Check any log files created by the
script for possible reasons.
