PERFORMANCE
This Demo version is of the PERSONAL Edition. Unlike the PROFESSIONAL edition, it does not have the ability to make standalone executables. It also has a tine limit of 30 days in which to evaluate the software before registering it.
The PROFESSIONAL Demo (which inlcudes the ability to make standalone executables) is available by email request to: maxxum@xtra.co.nz.
Include "Request base32 Professional" as your subject line.
Please note that some of the notes below may apply to the PROFESSIONAL Edition.
INSTALLATION
1. To install Base32, unzip the BASE32.ZIP file onto a blank 1.44MB floppy disk, insert the install disk into drive A: and make that the current drive.
2. The command to install has two optional parameters, the first the destination drive the second the os/2 source drive. For example
A:INSTALL - will install it onto drive c: and expect OS/2 to also be on drive C:
A:INSTALL D: - will install Base32 onto drive D: and expect OS/2 to be on drive c:
A:INSTALL D: D: - will do the same as above but expect os/2 to be on drive D: also
3. Also you will see a there is a config.prg file in this directory - this is an xbase program that is executed when Base32 is first run up, it is a good way to configure your environment to the defaults that you like, such as colours, date formats etc. To get a default setup either rename or delete this file, as it is not necessary to run Base32.
4. Contained on the install disk are several files with different extensions and the name of DLLDEMO.* these files are used to build a demonstration Base32 DLL using VisualAge c++ 3.0. The extern.h is an include file which contains all the declarations necessary to access and create Base32 DLL's.
5. Note that if you use the extra demo routine provided to illustrate linking in other programs written in C++, that if you do not have Visual Age C++ installed on you computer, the demo DLLDEMO will return an error as it will not find ICC.EXE which is part of the Visual Age installation. This only affects this part of the demo program and not the main Base32 demo operation.
6. If you have problems creating the standalone executables, it is because the OS/2 resource compiler is not installed on your machine. This is an optional part of the os/2 install (RC.EXE). Do a selective OS/2 install and install the relevant component.
7. REMEMBER to reboot your computer after installing to activate the LIBPATH changes
REGISTRATION
1. Please note that the demo version of Base32 is limited to TWO work areas whereas the registered version has a limit of FORTY work areas.
2. To register your software and receive a full capacity version with
individual signature file, you can either:
(a) Email your credit card details (VISA/Mastercard only) with card number, expiry date to maxxum@xtra.co.nz or;
(b) Fax these details with a signature to Maxxum Software, fax number (64) 6327 5520 or;
(c) Post your details to Maxxum Software, P.O. Box 271, Marton New Zealand
We will need to know your registration name, registration organisation (if applicable) and licence type.
3. Be sure to note whether you want your software emailed (quickest) or airmailed - if software is airmailed receiver assumes all responsibility for duties and taxes levied in their country. Emailing is strongly recommended.
PRICING
The pricing options for Base32 are as follows:
1. Single User PROFESSIONAL licence NZ $ 285 (approx US$ 199)
2. Multi user Enterprise PROFESSIONAL
licence (up to 15 users) NZ $1,285 (approx US$ 899)
3. Single User PERSONAL licence NZ $ 79 (approx US$ 55)
1. The Base32 PROFESSIONAL demo will not create runnable executables UNLESS you have the RESOURCE COMPILER (RC.EXE) installed with your OS/2. This is an optional part of the OS/2install. You MUST install this option for the executables to operate.
