  5. I. COPYRIGHT

  7. The copyright to each Linux Documentation Project (LDP) document is
  8. owned by its author or authors.

  11. II. LICENSE
  12.  
  13. The following license terms apply to all LDP documents, unless otherwise
  14. stated in the document.  The LDP documents may be reproduced and
  15. distributed in whole or in part, in any medium physical or electronic,
  16. provided that this license notice is displayed in the reproduction.
  17. Commercial redistribution is permitted and encouraged.  Thirty days
  18. advance notice via email to the author(s) of redistribution is appreciated,
  19. to give the authors time to provide updated documents.

  22. II.A REQUIREMENTS OF MODIFIED WORKS

  24. All modified documents, including translations, anthologies, and partial
  25. documents, must meet the following requirements:
  26.         1) The modified version must be labeled as such.
  27.         2) The person making the modifications must be identified.
  28.         3) Acknowledgement of the original author must be retained.
  29.         4) The location of the original unmodified document be identified.
  30.         5) The original author's (or authors') name(s) may not be used to
  31.            assert or imply endorsement of the resulting document without
  32.            the original author's (or authors') permission.

  34. In addition it is requested that:
  35.         1) The modifications (including deletions) be noted.
  36.         2) The author be notified by email of the modification in
  37.            advance of redistribution, if an email address is provided
  38.            in the document.

  40. As a special exception, anthologies of LDP documents may include a
  41. single copy of these license terms in a conspicuous location within the
  42. anthology and replace other copies of this license with a reference
  43. to the single copy of the license without the document being considered
  44. "modified" for the purposes of this section.

  46. Mere aggregation of LDP documents with other documents or programs on
  47. the same media shall not cause this license to apply to those other works.

  49. All translations, derivative documents, or modified documents that
  50. incorporate any LDP document may not have more restrictive license terms
  51. than these, except that you may require distributors to make the resulting
  52. document available in source format.

  85. Appendix C. TO USE YOUR OWN LICENSE

  87. LDP authors who want to include their own license on LDP works may do so,
  88. as long as their terms are not more restrictive than the LDP license,
  89. except that they may require that the document may not be modified.
