  25.    DESCRIPTION:
  26.  
  27.         The Version Sample simply displays the IBM Open Class User
  28.         Interface Library version.  You can determine the library version
  29.         via IC_MAJOR_VERSION and IC_MINOR_VERSION.

  31.    PROJECT LOCATION:
  32.         Inside the IOC Samples folder (inside the VisualAge C++ Samples
  33.         folder)

  35.    SOURCE FILE LOCATION:
  36.         X:\ibmcpp\samples\ioc\version

  38.         where X: is the drive you installed the samples and document
  39.         component of VisualAge C++.

  41.    HOW TO RUN THE SAMPLE:
  42.  
  43.         FROM WITHIN THE WORKFRAME ENVIRONMENT:
  44.              To run the prebuilt project, open the Samples folder on your
  45.              OS/2 desktop then double-click on the project's icon to open
  46.              the project view of the sample.  Click on the RUN button of
  47.              the project's toolbar.

  49.         FROM THE COMMAND LINE:
  50.              Simply type the name of the .EXE file, that is:
  51.  
  52.                  VERSION

  54.              If the sample fails to execute or abnormally ends, you can
  55.              get more information about the failure by turning on the
  56.              ICLUI trace.  This is done by setting the environment
  57.              variable ICLUI_TRACE as follows:
  58.  
  59.                    set ICLUI_TRACE=ON
  60.                    set ICLUI_TRACETO=STDERR
  61.  
  62.

  64.              The second export controls where the trace information is
  65.              reported.  With tracing turned on, ICLUI exception text will
  66.              be written to a standard error file. For example:
  67.  
  68.                    hello1 >hello1.out 2>&1
  69.  
  70.              The exception data is now in the file hello1.out.

  72.    HOW TO BUILD THE SAMPLE PROJECT YOURSELF:
  73.  
  74.         FROM WITHIN THE WORKFRAME ENVIRONMENT:
  75.              Open the Samples folder on your OS/2 desktop then
  76.              double-click on the project's icon to open the project view
  77.              of the sample. In the upper half of the project window you
  78.              will see the icons of the files associated with the sample.
  79.              From the Project pulldown, select Build -> Rebuild All.  To run
  80.              the sample project, see HOW TO RUN THE SAMPLE PROJECT above.

  82.         FROM THE COMMAND LINE:
  83.            - A command file is provided to allow rebuilding of the
  84.              WorkFrame projects from the command line.  Simply type:
  85.  
  86.                  BUILD
  87.  
  88.              To run the sample project, see HOW TO RUN THE SAMPLE PROJECT 
  89.              above.

  91.            - The sample application can also be built by entering:
  92.                  NMAKE
  93.              with no options while in the directory containing the
  94.              sample application files.  The makefile is named
  95.                  Makefile
  96.              To clean up the files generated from running make, enter:
  97.                  NMAKE CLEAN 
  98.              while in the directory containing the sample program files.

  100.    SOFTWARE/HARDWARE PREREQUISITES:
  101.  
  102.         o   IBM VisualAge C++
  103.         o   OS/2 2.1 or Warp
  104.         o   IBM or compatible 386 and up.
  105.
