REGISTRATION INFORMATION FILE (3/27/90)
Note that without registering, at a total cost of typically $15, you
can receive a copy of the JRCPP PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION PACKAGE. This
package contains all on line documentation that is sent to registered
users, and contains a full function version of JRCPP (JRCPPCHK, as
described in the README.DOC file). This Package was designed for
free public distribution, and may be freely distributed among
friends, co-workers, freeware/shareware sites, and BBSs.
BECOMING A REGISTERED USER
TYPICAL COST: $40.00 US currency for the first year. Registration may
be renewed at any time for %50 of the current registration fee. If
the user has consistently renewed their registration annually, the
the annual renewal fee is only %40 of the ORIGINAL registration fee.
The registration is made for either an individual user, or for a
single computer/workstation. Site licenses discounts are available,
as are OEM agreements. Especially significant are discounts for
educational institutions engaging in group registrations.
Additional shipping and handling charges may also apply if the
requested delivery media is neither 3.5 nor 5.25 inch MSDOS formatted
diskettes; shipment is outside of the United States; rush shipment is
requested; or the target platform is other than DOS or OS/2.
Registration and order forms should be sent with a check or money
order to:
James Roskind
516 Latania Palm Drive
Indialantic FL, 32903
(407)729-4348
Checks and money orders should be made payable to "James Roskind",
and applicable state tax should be included if the registration is
made within Florida (certified checks can reduce the processing
delays).
BENEFITS OF BECOMING A REGISTERED USER
Receive executables directly from manufacturer, and avoid tampering.
The charge for shipments of specially requested updates during the
registered period, is generally no more than the media cost, plus
shipping and handling.
Receive additional executables customized for various platforms and
scenarios. Example: The DOS bulletin board versions are a compromise
for both OS/2 and MSDOS. Specialized versions are targeted at
specific operating systems and processors, and achieve superior
performance on their target. There is an OS2 ONLY version, a DOS
ONLY 80286 version, and a DOS ONLY 8088 version. When media space
permits, these additional customized versions are shipped
automatically at no additional charge (or when a registrant orders a
specific customization).
Receive notification of new releases and access bug lists for old
releases.
Additional files are supplied to registered users. These include:
JRCPP Provides noticeable performance increase over JRCPPCHK
JRCPPSAF Supports generation of precise bug reports
JRCPPTIM Supports generation of performance problem reports
JRCPP can typically reduce preprocessing time by about 25% over that
of the (publicly available) JRCPPCHK. JRCPPSAF is a special version
of JRCPP that is used to provide detailed bug reports without
compromising the user's code. JRCPPTIM is a version of JRCPP that
contains complete internal profiling, and can be used to provide
feedback (problem reports) describing poor performance. These
versions allow the author of JRCPP to be more responsive to the needs
of the users, without requiring the users to provided code samples
when problems arise.
Registered users are encouraged to suggest desirable features for
upcoming releases. JRCPP was designed to eliminate many of the
problems encountered with other preprocessors. Users provided the
initial commentary that drove the design, and users will continue to
be listened to.
Guaranteed bug fixes and availability of beta releases. If you
provide a bug report, then that bug will be fixed. Beta versions of
these corrected versions are sent to the registered users that
request the fix for the cost of media, plus shipping and handling.
Free upgrade to the next major release (following the registered
version). This upgrade will be supplied even if it is released after
the registration period has expired. Hence registered users actually
get the most current version, AND the next major version at NO
ADDITIONAL CHARGE.
