  2. These files contain the source code tree for the CMU Mach
  3. 3.0 microkernel. They are archived in the Unix tar/gzip
  4. format. MACHDFLT.TGZ contains platform independent code and
  5. MACHI386.TGZ contains i386 specific code. To unarchive a
  6. file in tar/gzip format:

  8.             gzip -d machdflt.tgz
  9.             tar xvf machdflt.tar
  10.  
  11. These files are for hardy hackers only. General Background
  12. material on message passing kernels can be found in books
  13. by authors such as Andrew Tannenbaum. The Usenet group
  14. comp.os.mach is the best place for advanced information.
  15. These files are not for novices. They demand a certain level
  16. of maturity. Posting very naive questions to comp.os.mach
  17. will almost certainly get you flamed.
