  11. Trickle Down is a four-in-a-row
  12. genre game. The basic objective of
  13. play is to arrange four of your
  14. tiles in a row before Dr. Plopper
  15. (the computer's AI persona) does.
  16.  
  17. Weak Artificial Intelligence
  18.  
  19. Trickle Down's AI persona is specially
  20. attuned to the moves and strategic
  21. possibilities of the game.  Dr. Plopper
  22. may not know whether or not you use
  23. ketchup with your hamburger, but the
  24. doctor knows this game very well.
  25. The wily Dr. Plopper also learns
  26. how to play against a player's style;
  27. and so, each installation of Trickle Down
  28. will play differently.

  58. Playing Trickle Down is simple
  59.  
  60. Starting Trickle down is simple.
  61. You start a new game by selecting
  62. the New option from the Game drop
  63. down menu. You can also start a
  64. game by pressing and releasing both
  65. mouse buttons simultaneously.

  69. To make a move, point at one of the
  70. numbered tiles atop each column of the
  71. game's  playing area and click the left
  72. mouse button once. You'll see a tile
  73. slide into its proper spot in that
  74. column.

  76. Winning The Game

  78. The game ends when you or the
  79. computer has placed four tiles
  80. adjacent to each other in a row
  81. horizontally, vertically or
  82. diagonally.

  113. Starting a new game clears the game
  114. board. You can quickly start a new
  115. game by chording the two mouse buttons.

  118. buttons simultaneously.

  121. selecting the New Game menu item
  122. in the Game drop down menu.

  127. The move list's two columns display the sequence of choices made by each 
  128. player. The left column reports choices by the player who moved first; the 
  129. right, the player who moved second. The numbers indicate the column chosen for 
  130. each move.

  135. Selecting the Quit option ends play. Before Trickle Down closes its game board 
  136. window, it displays the message "Creating Markers / Storing in Subconscious." 
  137. When you are playing at the Advanced level only, Trickle Down records certain 
  138. aspects of your wins against Dr. Plopper. This record of your play increases 
  139. Dr. Plopper's IQ for your next session.

  153. There are four levels of game play
  154. difficulty. They are:

  156. New Beginner
  157.  
  158. The computer makes random moves
  159. against your play. This level will prove
  160. fun for children or players who wish to
  161. quickly gain facility at winning.
  162.  
  163. Beginner
  164.  
  165. If the computer detects that you'll
  166. win with your next move, it will move to
  167. block that win. Playing at this level
  168. will help you to create positions where
  169. you will have two winning possibilites
  170. at your turn.

  172. Intermediate
  173.  
  174. In Intermediate level play Dr. Plopper
  175. blocks your wins, and quicky grabs all
  176. winning opportunities. When you can
  177. beat Dr. Plopper at this level, move
  178. on to the Advanced level.

  180. Advanced
  181.  
  182. At this level the computer begins to
  183. incorporate what it has learned from
  184. being beaten in previous games at the
  185. advanced level. Dr. Plopper learns to
  186. use your playing strengths against you.

  207. can watch how players develop moves
  208. and counter moves to achieve a win.
  209. Print the moves from the game and try to
  210. replay them yourself for practice.
