  15. Thank you for evaluating FileStar/2! We truly believe it's the
  16. best choice for all your file management needs and hope you will
  17. agree after a thoughtful evaluation!

  19. This program is full-featured with all features enabled. It is
  20. being made available for all users to freely evaluate so they
  21. can decide if the program meets their needs and expectations. It
  22. will expire and refuse to run 30 days after installation. It is
  23. free of nags and notices except for a reminder upon startup when
  24. the number of days remaining for evaluation is less that 5 days.
  25. If you decide to purchase the program you may do so by visiting
  26. www.filestar.com.

  28. This program can not be re-installed unless you hack the
  29. prevention mechanism - which is a violation of the license to use
  30. it and is punishible by law. Furthermore, hacking the program
  31. re-install prevention and continuing to use the program violates
  32. the spirit in which this program is made available and in the
  33. long term can only be hurtful to all parties.

  35. This file describes the procedures for installing the FileStar/2
  36. Demonstration application.

  43. BASE FILES AND FILENAME CONVENTION
  44.  
  45. When you download the application from an Internet server, you
  46. will have one file named FS21DEMO.EXE. This is a self-extracting
  47. executable zip file which contains a compressed file, the
  48. installation program files and this text file.
  49.  
  50. FS21DEMO.EXE contains:
  51.     F2199306.001  -   Compressed distribution file
  52.     SHSINST.EXE   -   SHS InstallStar installation program
  53.     SHSINST.HLP   -   Installation program help file
  54.     SHSINST.INF   -   Installation program information file
  55.     INSTALL.TXT   -   This file.    -
  56.  
  57. F21 is major/minor version, 99306 is last 5 digits of level.

  60. BASE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
  61.  
  62. 1.  If you are installing from an Internet download, run the
  63. self-extracting zip file FS21DEMO.EXE. When completed you should
  64. have the files listed above in the current directory.
  65.  
  66. 2.  Open an OS/2 window. If you are installing from a CD or
  67. floppy disk change to the root directory of that drive.
  68.  
  69. 3.  You may start the install program with or without the
  70. compressed file as a parameter. The F2199306.001 file is the
  71. compressed file that contains all other files and installation
  72. definitions.
  73.  
  74.     (a) If you start the installation program with a command of
  75.     'SHSINST F2199306.001' you will bypass the Source Directory
  76.     dialog.
  77.  
  78.     (b) If you start with 'SHSINST' the Source Directory dialog
  79.     will appear. Press the browse button and double click the
  80.     F2199306.001 file. This will complete the source path in the
  81.     dialog.
  82.  
  83. 3.  Press the 'License' button (required to enable the Install
  84. button) and read the License. When finished with reading the
  85. licence, you may read the README.1ST file by pressing the
  86. 'Readme' button.
  87.  
  88. 4.  Press the 'Install' button to start the installation. A
  89. Target Directory dialog will appear. The Target Directory dialog
  90. entry field should be displaying a directory FILESTAR on the boot
  91. drive. You may change the drive/directory manually or use the
  92. Browse button to select the target directory. It will be created
  93. during install if it does not exist. Press Ok to accept the
  94. target directory as entered and the extraction of files will
  95. begin.

  97. 5.  Normal installation creates a Desktop folder named 'FS Demo'.
  98. The folder contains the executables for FileStar/2 and
  99. InstallStar.
  100.  
  101. 6.  InstallStar online help is available by pressing the F1 key
  102. or the 'Help' pushbutton.

  105. UNINSTALL
  106.  
  107. To uninstall the demostration program, simply delete the
  108. directory in which it installed. The program does not write to
  109. the OS2.INI or config.sys files and is completely contained in
  110. its own directory.

  113. INFOZIP UTILITIES
  114.  
  115. InfoZIP has graciously allowed the inclusion of ZIP.EXE and
  116. UNZIP.EXE with the FileStar/2 product. These programs are
  117. provided at no cost to the user as a service. It is very likely
  118. that you already have these fine native OS/2 archiving utilities.
  119.  
  120. InfoZIP products are widely available on the internet. For a list
  121. of InfoZIP sources, read the WHERE file. You will also find a
  122. link to the latest versions on www.filestar.com. The ZIP.DOC and
  123. UNZIP.DOC files are included to provide documentation for the
  124. InfoZIP products.

  126. FileStar/2 makes extensive use of the Zip and Unzip programs. It
  127. is recommended that you add the path to these programs to the
  128. config.sys path statement so that one copy of the files are
  129. available to all programs that use them.
