This file is README.TXT.
The help screen can be moved to the

wisdom contained herein.
--Why am I running this program?
This is a MUCH faster alternative to
the standard OS/2 Find utility. The
reason for this is not entirely known
to me, but leaving out icons certainly
helps.
--What does it do?
Let us say that you are searching for
your resume'. You can't remember if
you wrote it in your old Windoze word
processor with a crunched filename or
in your slick new version of Clearlook
for OS/2.
You figure that "res" is in your
filename. You type "res" in the File
Phrase field of this program. If you
know your resume' is in the DATA
directory of drive C, you type
"C:\DATA\" in the Search this Directory
field. (or you can look it up by
pressing the Choose Directory button).
When you press the Search button, an
indicator will appear in red that shows
that files are being searched. When
the indicator disappears, the search is
done.
If the search is successful, there will
be filenames in the Results area (the
big rectangle). Double-click on your
file to bring up the OS/2 Default view
of your resume'. If all is well, it
will appear in your preferred word
processor program.
* The Include directory names check
box will determine whether or not
directories (folders) are included in
the Results area.
* The Choose Directory button helps
you select a directory by bringing up
the OS/2 file selection dialog box.
You must choose a file in the
directory you want, then press OK.
* The Clear button erases all entries
in the Results area.
* The Open button brings up the OS/2
default view of the selected item.
* The Edit List button will list
results in the EPM editor.
* The Exit button closes this program.
-- Known problems & limitations.
1. The directory selection method
stinks and I am working on a better
one.
2. I don't know what the capacity of
the results area is. I am sure someone
will let me know.
3. The whole thing is only available
in English. We'll just see about that.
4. The Search works like the following
command line statement:
DIR *<File phrase>*.* /S
If your needs fall outside this realm,
your life will suffer until I fix it.
5. It has only been tested on one
computer at 640 x 480 resolution. Write
me at donlim@teleport.com if you can
confirm or deny success on other
systems and resolutions.
-- Revision history.
0.01 The first version I wrote at work.
1.00 It stunk.
1.01 A modified version of this program
that is being used at work (they call
it DogBone because of a bad icon I
created).
27.6 This version. I took out some
experimental stuff and some of the
things that made it really great at
work, but not so good in the real
world.
--Plans for the next version (HELP ME!)
The version will be 8.3B. It is code
named Blue Wombat. I plan on fixing
bugs and adding the following:
1. User requests. (let me know)
2. Drag and drop abilities.
3. Ability to override OS/2 defaults.
4. Celsius - Fahrenheit conversion.
5. Better directory picker.
6. Container view option (if you like
the icons and don't mind it slower).
-- Support & Registration
Make sure your program works before you
register. If you register, I won't
give you support (just kidding).
This program is provided AS-IS with no
warranty or liability from the author
for any evil things that happen to your
system because you ran my program.
If I can help, I will. My e-mail
address is donlim@teleport.com.
This software is crapware. I do not
charge money, but there is some crap I
want if you have an extra. Here's the
list:
1. Old boxed versions of OS/2 1.x.
Shrinkwrap not critical.
2. Any Non-English version of OS/2.
Boxed is good or even a book.
3. A Willie Mays baseball card.
4. Post cards from your area are
great.
5. Good wishes.
Except for items 3 - 5, please check
with me before sending them. I only
need one of each variation of the first
two items. Thanks in advance for
trying my program.
