  6.      The DCF/2 is an on-the-fly disk compression
  7.      facility for IBM's OS/2 operating system.  The
  8.      DCF/2 uses high-speed compression/decompression
  9.      engines (CDE) to perform most compression and
  10.      decompression functions.

  12.      The DCF/2 CTU, or Compression/Decompression Test
  13.      Utility, is designed to help you to measure the compression
  14.      results you'll achieve when using the DCF/2 on your system's
  15.      disk drives.

  17.      For additional information about the architecture of
  18.      the DCF/2, the online help screens are included with the CTU.
  19.      Type F1 or click on the HELP button on any of the CTU
  20.      screen to read through the DCF/2 "BIG Picture"!

  27.      to measure several interesting DCF/2 CDE characteristics

  33.         - Compression Elapsed Time (CET) for specific
  34.           physical disk units

  36.         - Statistical sampling of an entire physical disk unit

  38.         - Measurement of physical disk unit input/output performance
  39.           independent of the DCF/2 CDE (zero compression
  40.           testing)

  42.         - Testing of both Compression, Decompression, and
  43.           Compression/Decompression Verification statistics

  45.         - Comparisons of CDE compression Elapsed Time and Average
  46.           Compression Ratio for a physical disk unit by CDE

  61.      run-time priority in order to measure the load of DCF/2
  62.      continuous compress situations when running in the foreground
  63.      or background.

  66.      DCF/2 CTU System Requirements

  69.      The DCF/2 CTU is a stand-alone test kit which includes all
  70.      modules required for system benchmarking.  The DCF/2 CTU self-
  71.      installs automatically when first run.  It configures all
  72.      drivers.  After rebooting your system, the DCF/2 CTU is avail-
  73.      able for use.

  75.      The CTU is compatible with all DCF/2 versions and can be
  76.      installed/used without concerns.

  96.                   - State of System Under Test (SUT),
  97.                     including number of processes
  98.                     running, amount of RAM and SWAP
  99.                     space, cache size(s), and cache
  100.                     parameters (LW, lazy state, MAXAGE,
  101.                     etc.)

  103.                   - Type of Files Under Test (FUT) and
  104.                     amount of free space on Disk Under
  105.                     Test (DUT)
