The BBS File Manager is powerful software BBS sysops can use to maintain their
fileareas. It is both easy to use and extremely fast. A complete list of
features is contained later in this file. We hope you'll try this software.
If you do, we'll sure it will become an integral part of your BBS's file
management activities (as it has for us).
SHAREWARE USEAGE
The BBS File Manager is not free but is distributed as shareware. You may use
it with no charge for 30 days. After that time, you must either stop using it
or purchase is for $20 (US funds) from PowerTec Systems. Please see the file
REGISTER.TXT for complete information on how to register.
BBS AND SHAREWARE VENDOR DISTRIBUTION
Generally, anyone is free to distribute The BBS File Manager as long as certain
conditions are met. The file VENDINFO.DOC contains complete information.

The BBS File Manager includes a number of files in its package:

If you distribute The BBS File Manager to others, you must distribute all the
original, unmodified, files listed above.
FEATURES
Allows easy viewing, moving, and editing descriptions of all files
for a BBS.
Powerful split screen shows three different windows: file direc-
tory listing for one filearea, description associated with high-
lighted file, and list of all fileareas for the BBS.
Supports any BBS software that uses the FILES.BBS format to hold
its file listings including RemoteAccess, Maximus, Opus, QuickBBS,
SuperBBS, and many others.
DOS and native-OS/2 versions of program included in the package.
Built-in full-screen editor for editing descriptions directly from
the file description window.
Point-and-shoot method of moving files between fileareas. All
functions are designed to be accomplished with a minimum number of
keystrokes; yet it's very easy to use.
View files in their native format: automatically selects the
appropriate picture viewer, archive viewer, or text editor when
viewing a file.
Extensive support for picture files:
Automatically put picture size information in descriptions.
Convert GIF to JPG files and vice-versa (with appropriate
external tools).
Optionally, supports simultaneously keeping a GIF and JPG version
of the same file so you can later select which one you want to
keep. Editing one description automatically updates both. See
documentation for details.
Supports external GIF compressors (i.e. GIFLITE).
Automatically extract package descriptions from FILE_ID.DIZ files
inside archives.
Copy a description of one file to several other.
Pull-down and pop-up menus with hot-key shortcuts.
Tag files to perform an action on multiple files.
Inherit files not in FILES.BBS or disinherit files in FILES.BBS
that do not exist.
Powerful search capability to find files or words in a description
anywhere on the BBS.
Count and display number of files in each filearea and total for
the BBS.
Find files with "bogus" descriptions.
Create a listing file of all files on your BBS (or just from
certain fileareas). This file is suitable for users to download.
"Touch" files manually to make the current date and time. Option-
ally, allows file that are moved between fileareas to be automati-
cally updated with the current date and time.
On-line help.
Mini-help for commonly used keys on bottom line changes as you hold
down the shift, ALT, and CTRL keys.
Easy to use configuration set-up file.
Shell to DOS at any time.
User definable keys for executing external programs.
