Please NOTE that the PM version will only run correctly if your
video mode is 1024 x 768. The screen will not appear correctly with
other resolutions selected. Also, the PM version does not have all
of the features that the OS/2 text-mode and DOS versions have.
Specifically, the PM version does not have the ASCII chart or the
multiple-base calculator. The calculator in the PM version is HEX
only. The mouse ON/OFF toggle is not available in the PM version
either.
In my opinion the text-mode of OS/2 is far superior for this sort
of application. In fact, I may, in the future discontinue adding
features to the PM version.

▒▒▒ DrHex ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ Version 1.02 ▒▒▒▒
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Doctor Hex is a ShareWare binary file editor. To register your
copy please fill out the form that is located at the end of this
file and send it along with $25.00 in US funds to the address
indicated at the start of the form. When you register your copy
you will be told how to use Doctor Hex to register DrHex.Exe such
that the initial and closing annoyance screens and associated
delays are removed. Registration will also allow you to access a
HEX calculator and a HEX/DECIMAL conversion window and a Tab
Marker system from within DrHex. You will be told how to access
the ASCII chart, the calculator, the converter and the tab markers
when you register.
The program is very straight-forward and requires very little in
the way of documentation. Selecting the Help button in Dr. Hex
will give you a very brief screen of information that may be of
some help to you. The help in the DOS and OS/2 text-mode versions
is far more detailed than in the OS/2 PM version.
The file that you are editing is opened in an exclusive mode. No
other processes may access the file at the same time as Dr. Hex.
The file is navigated by 256 byte records. Selecting Next or
Prev will load the next or previous 256 byte block. You may edit
either in ASCII or HEX.
The last record may not be a complete 256 byte block so you are
not allowed to edit any bytes beyond the last byte of the file.
The cursor-pad manipulates the cursor as you would expect except
that Home will move the cursor to the beginning of a line unless
it is already at the beginning in which case it moves it to the
first byte in the current block. The End key operates in a
similar fashion.

You will receive instructions for registering DrHex.Exe to
eliminate the unregistered annoyance windows and the associated
delays. This will also activate the ASCII chart, the HEX calculator,
the HEX/DEC/OCT/BIN converter and the Tab Marker capabilities.
One registration is good for all future versions of Dr. Hex,
even if the price increases at a later date. One registration is
also good for all platforms be it DOS, OS/2 text-mode or OS/2 PM.
The registration information in the PM version is stored in the
OS2USER.INI file. In the DOS and OS/2 text-mode versions the
information is stored in a DrHex.Cfg file that is maintained in
the same directory as the DrHex.Exe file.
