  28. Although selecting the best fax modem was difficult, we chose the Zoom FAX VFP
  29. V.32bis, from Zoom Telephonics, because it was the best all-around performer
  30. in our fax and data-transmission tests and, at a list price of $299, the Zoom
  31. represents an excellent value.

  33. However, two products merit special mention. The first is the $449 Twincom
  34. 14.4DFI, which offers an impressive array of configuration options, making it
  35. suitable for Windows users with systems loaded with peripherals. The second is
  36. the easy-to-install $399 Cardinal 14400 (which offers a lifetime warranty).
  37. Both were solid performers in the fax and data tests, and both bundle
  38. Quicklink II, a Windows package that integrates fax and data functions.
