INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLING BULLETRON(R):
1. Make a new disk directory.
2. UNZIP all the files in this kit into that directory. You will need
ten megabytes of free space on your hard disk drive to hold these files.
3. The Demo BBS, as shipped, is configured for a Hayes Smartmodem 2400
on the COM1 port, plus one extra session for local console logon. You
can start the BBS from an OS/2 command prompt by entering the command,
BBS2 ALL
If you need to reconfigure modem parameters before starting up, then you
can use
BBS2 ALL NOMODEM
to start the BBS without attempting to initialize the modem. This
allows you to log on as the system operator and execute commands to
reconfigure the modem parameters. To log on to the BBS from the local
console, press your F2 key to select the local console session, then
type CTRL/K to initiate the logon sequence. Your account code is
"SYSOP" and your password is "TEST".
4. Your System Operator's Manual is in a file named "SYSOPMAN.DOC".
This is a plain ASCII text file containing the table of contents, main
body and appendices from the printed manual. It was produced by
export, in "smart ASCII" format from the original document which is in
DeScribe 5.0 format. The index was omitted and the page numbers in
the table of contents are incorrect because the figures and
illustrations can not be expressed in an ASCII text document.
Nevertheless, you should be able to print hardcopy of this manual on any
printer using the command:
COPY SYSOPMAN.DOC PRN:
A bound, hardcopy edition of the full System Operator's Manual is
available by special order.
You will want to study the System Operator's Manual carefully before
proceeding, as there are many things that you will want to configure to
suit your own special needs.
5. Use the Demo BBS as long as you wish. All features are enabled, the
only restrictions being in the number of user accounts and messages that
can be stored. When you are satisfied with the configuration and
appearance of your BBS, you can purchase a copy of the BBS2.EXE file
that removes these restrictions. No other reconfiguration is necessary.
