WCOS2FIX.DOC - November 12, 1994
================================
WCOS2FIX.EXE is a program that will patch Wildcat 4.x and associated programs
so that they will start properly in a multi-line environment under OS/2 Warp.
Symptom
-------
When running Wildcat 4.x in a multi-line environment under OS/2 Warp with
"DOS Share" networking enabled, Wildcat will refuse to run with a 10310 error
(network initialization error). This is due to a problem in OS/2 Warp, see
the "Background information" section below for an explanation.
Instructions
------------
Copy WCOS2FIX.EXE to your Wildcat home directory, and run the following
command from a command prompt:
WCOS2FIX
The program will list the files that it is attempting to patch. Note that
some files may not be present - for example, if you do not own wcGATE there
are five files that will not be found. See below for the list of files
that are patched. Also note that if you have any of the listed files in
any other directories, you should run WCOS2FIX in that directory as well.
It is safe to run this program more than once, it will recognize files that
have already been patched.
Details
-------
The following files in the current directory are patched by WCOS2FIX.EXE:
FAXSERVE.EXE (wcPRO)
FREPAIR.EXE (wcPRO)
GREPAIR.EXE (wcGATE)
MAKEECHO.EXE

QUIKGATE.EXE (wcGATE)
UTIEXPRT.EXE
UTIHIGH.EXE
UTIIMPRT.EXE
UTILIST.EXE

WCGATE.EXE (wcGATE)
WCMAIL.EXE
WCNETML.EXE (fido)
WCPACK.EXE
WCPACKX.EXE
WCPRO.EXE (wcPRO)
WCREPAIR.EXE
WILDCAT.EXE
WUPGRADE.EXE
Background information
----------------------
During Wildcat initialization with DOS Share networking enabled, Wildcat
makes a call to DOS to set the file locking retry count and timeout
parameters. This call completes successfully under MS-DOS, but OS/2 Warp
reports the call as an error. Normally Wildcat will report an error 10310
in this case (network initialization error). The WCOS2FIX patch will remove
this error check so Wildcat will ignore the fact that OS/2 failed the call.
This allows Wildcat to start normally.
