PMOS2FIX.DOC - December 10, 1994
================================
PMOS2FIX.EXE is a program that will patch PostMaster so that it will start
properly in a multi-line environment under OS/2 Warp.
Symptom
-------
When running PostMaster in a multi-line environment under OS/2 Warp with
"DOS Share" networking enabled, PostMaster will refuse to run with a 10310
error (network initialization error). This is due to a problem in OS/2
Warp, see the "Background information" section below for an explanation.
Instructions
------------
Copy PMOS2FIX.EXE to the directory where POSTMSTR.EXE is located and run the
following command from a command prompt:
PMOS2FIX
The program will indicate whether or not it was successful. It is safe
to run this program more than once, it will recognize files that have
already been patched.
Background information
----------------------
During Btree database initialization with DOS Share networking enabled, Postmaster
makes a call to DOS to set the file locking retry count and timeout
parameters. This call completes successfully under MS-DOS, but OS/2 Warp
reports the call as an error. Normally PostMaster will report an error 10310
in this case (network initialization error). The PMOS2FIX patch will remove
this error check so PostMaster will ignore the fact that OS/2 failed the call.
This allows PostMaster to start normally.
