VP2 (AKA VPurge-OS/2) Modified ConfMail, v4.09c
Refer to the excellent ConfMail 4.00 manual for basic usage information.
Rename this module to CM2.EXE and put it in your \BINK subdirectory over
the previous CM2.EXE module. It differs from the original in twelve ways.
1. All known null pointer problems are corrected.
2. The problems with Mei and some (Dutchie?) messages causing hangs
or traps are corrected (date formatting).
3. Grunged packet and message header hangs and traps are corrected.
4. If the line in AREAS.BBS has a # before the first Node address,
including as the first character of the line, the area is treated as
a true passthru area: upon full and successful Export of all messages
in that area, they are all deleted and a fresh 1.MSG is created. This
makes it compatible with QMail AREAS.BBS files.
5. The longstanding problem with parsing the commandline for Import or Export
without a -A has been fixed.
6. Commandline switches may now begin with either a "-" or a "/".
7. It can now be called without parameters without trapping.
8. It now resists self-destruction when processing messages with really
screwed up header fields.
9. Area names in the areas.bbs and the -f areafile list must be the same length.
Previously, they matched if the areas.bbs (FOO) was in the -f areafile list
stem (FOO_BAR).
10.The SEADOG mode old archive Zapper apparently wasn't working in all cases.
It always deletes the old archive, but wasn't always successful in doing
the subsequent new Open of a 0-length file.
11.More SEEN-BY problems during Export. Traps, not properly sorted, etc.
12.Thanks to Andreas Kaiser, VPurge will now toss naked packets correctly from
multiple places in one invocation: current subdirectory, netmail area, and
the netfiles (usual) area.
This module has now replaced CM2.EXE in all the archives at 1:109/301; those
with copies of those archives are encouraged to do the same.
The DOS version of this program is available in VP409C.ZIP, from 1:109/301.
Source for both the VP and VP2 4.08 versions is online and available from
1:109/301 as VP2SRC.LZH, around 107K in size, as soon as they are released.
Keep in mind that VP409C.ZIP and VP2409C.ZIP are Beta, thus the source is
currently unstable and not yet released.
