Title : The Beyond

Description : A few months ago a sect of devil worshippers
settled down in your town. There are rumors
that they celebrate horrible rituals and
even human sacrifices in their castle-like
house. But you have not cared much about these
rumors, until one day your girl-friend
disappears without a trace.
You start investigating and find out that
the sect had been in need for a virgin
sacrifice in order to summon two horrible
demon lords straight out of hell.
You grab your father's pistol and leave towards
the castle to rescue your girl.
You enter the house through the ventilation
shaft. Just when you start looking around,
you hear an unearthly howling. You are too late!
Your girl-friend has taken her last breath on the
sacrificing altar. The creatures of hell
have already arrived in this world.
You swear bloody revenge, hoping the
two demon lords are late.
I tried to put some concept into this level. Therefore I have chosen the
textures carefully, and tried to put some meaning into each room.
There is a sacrifice room, a church (with cross and altar), vault,
computer rooms, a research lab, and a gene lab.
To fully enjoy the atmosphere I strongly recommend not to use
gamma-correction and reduce the brightness of your screen to a minimum.
Then the colors look more realistic. If it's too dark in the cellar
and you are simply slaughtered by the imps without seeing anything,
try again at an easier level of difficulty. The light level of the rooms
has been chosen carefully.
BEYOND can be done on UV without cheating. It is none of these levels
that are crowded by monsters. There are no cyber- or spider-demons.
If you have managed to cope with the original levels at UV, then you surely
can do BEYOND, too!

#1 The west wall of the small room with the stairway to the teleport room
is actually the door leading to the computer rooms and research labs.
#2 Right from the southern door to the vaults there's a secret room with
goodies.
#3 There's a secret room with a chainsaw on the right hand side of the
corridor to the deep round pitch
#4 To cross this pitch push the button behind the red keycard door.
#5 Behind the pitch there's a button on the wall, which opens the door in
the room, where you can see the blue keycard (but are unable to reach it).
There's a blue bulb.
#6 You shouldn't start killing the pink demons before you have the chainsaw
and the invulnerability from the room with the well.
#7 If you hurry, the light amplifier (see #2) still works in the long blinking
and winding corridor behind the pitch.
#8 The demon lords (barons) do not appear before you have crossed the bridge.
If you jump across the river instead, you do not need to kill them.
#9 The bars to the research labs open by pressing the left hand button
(yes, this IS a button!)
#10 In the gene lab there are seven buttons like the one before. The right one
opens the bars again. The pair left of it opens and closes the main part
of the lab and the other four open or close the two brooding chambers
(The red beasts in them are no monsters, but just genetically altered
innocent animals. They don't deserve to die!)
#11 The red river leads to a sea. There's a computer terminal. You can press
the metallic wall next to in order to get a mega-armour.
#12 In the big room with the keycard doors you can reach all corners by
jumping fast enough across the borders.
