TerrainMap 3.0 (for WinNT and Win95)

Introduction
TerrainMap represents terrain in triangulated irregular networks
(TINs), contours, and digital elevation model (DEM).
TIN generation is strictly based on Delunay criteria (for any
resulting triangle, there is no other points within the circle
defined by three points of the triangle.)
Contours can be generated from TIN model or DEM model. Users can
define the contour interval and primary contour elevation. The
generation of contours from DEM is internally using the
TIN-to-Contour algorithm. Contour labelling is also included.
DEM can be generated from TIN model or contours. Users can
define DEM size (number of rows and columns).
Voronoi polygons can be generated from TIN model. Voronoi
polygons best define the most precise spatial influencing regions
(or best spatial partitioning). It is especially useful for
locational analyses.
Layer-ed display of usersÆ choice is useful for data validation,
cross-referencing, and better visualization. Users can select
layers and colors for display. Layers include control elevation
points, triangles, contours, contour labels, DEM, and Voronoi
polygons.
3D spatial view is included for better visualization. Users can
define rotations in all three axises (X, Y, and Z), as well as
Z directional enlargement. Other view operations include fit,
zoom-in, zoom-out, move, and zoom by region.
Import/Export utilities are provided including TIN to ASCII,
Contour to ASCII, DEM to ASCII, and Voronoi Polygons to ASCII.
Spatial Analysis functions
Profile Viewer/Output
This function solves the problem that given two points
and the sampling numbers, interpolate elevations for all
sampling points along the line defined by the two points.
Two points can be input by keying-in or mouse-clicking.
All parameters necessary for the profile generation are
human-interventable. Profile export is only a
button-click away.
Slope analysis
This function performs 3D surface area calculation for
user-defined slope classes.
3D surface Area Calculator
This function allows users to defines a cube based on
which 3D surface area calculation is then perfomed.
More specifically, it solves the problem such as
"Find the total area where elevation is between 100.5
meter and 478 meter, longitude between 47.6 and 48.5
degree, latitude is between 35.1 and 36.5 degree"
Volume Calculator
This function is similar to Area Calculator except
that it calculates the total volume within the given
cube.
Breakline Input
This function allows users to input linear features
such as streams and shorelines, as the criticial points
which must be preserved. All points on the input linear
features are used in TIN generation. Breakline is
treated as one of individual layers for colored display.
Users can designate the color for each breakline .
Shaded-relief
Instant shaded-relief map creation with option to
define multiple light sources and magnitudes of light
sources.
